why, when the items are already discounted as explained? read the op.
Because its a thing called customer service. For the sake of 34p you would have had two successful sales. Instead though you have lost 2 sales and caused yourself a lot of hassle. Was it really worth it for 34 pence?

And where is the line? 50pence £1, £2? Soon starts to add up. If the OP advertised combined orders and didn't give a discount then the buyer is right to be annoyed, but you should always ask about combined postage rather than assume it will be offered and OP says they offer some kind of discount (although I can't work out if that means the items are just really cheap or they discounted the order but the buyer wanted more).

This customer service you talk of, what else does it apply to that isn't offered in the listing? Have you thought of asking John Lewis for 34pence off your next order with them, I hear their service is good.

  • add this to your listing to avoid in future

"I don't offer combined postage, so don't even ask, if you don't like my postage costs don't buy, I had this one idiot of a customer who felt that because i was saving on postage i had to pass that saving on to him, and so he negged me, what a cretin"

I don't think you'd need to worry about this sort of problem again

errr ok. please let us know next time you are in tesco (others are available) asking for a further discount on your already discounted brand price matched nappies....and they hand it to you on a plate.

if only. i was told by 2 operatives yesterday that feedback is now only removeable if there has been no comms at all from the buyer after they bid/buy it now, the buyer does not pay and they are issued a strike.

however if there has been no comms at all from the buyer after bid/buy it now, the unpaid item process is started and they then email the seller eg requesting to cancel the bids/buy it now, then the feedback stays because they have 'responded'

That doesn't sound right according to eBay's own guidelines. Ring again.

    ETA:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/feedback-removal.html

The buyer fails to respond to a reminder about an unpaid item and the unpaid item is recorded on their account

A buyer's communication within the Resolution Centre undermines the purpose of the unpaid item process and the eBay Feedback system
    • For example, the buyer responds to an unpaid item reminder with nonsensical text in order to retain the abitlity to leave Feedback for a seller

I would be strongly arguing that the buyer's comms undermine the unpaid item process as they did not ask for combined postage prior to ordering, therefore they ordered two items agreeing to pay according to the T&C of your listings. (Note - only a valid arguement if you do not have anything anywhere suggesting that you will combine postage).
