ebay rant

one more off the chest :)

buyer uses 'buy it now' on 2 items. after committing to buy, they then email and ask for combined postage discount/money off. both items are already discounted as shown in listing, explain to buyer why further discounts cannot be given.

buyer then wants to cancel. we don't want to cancel. unpaid item opened x 2

buyer does not pay after 4 days. unpaid reminders close. buyer strike x 2.

negative left 'REFUSED TO COMBINE POSTAGE'.

so even though there is nothing in the listing where i state postage discount offered for more than 1 item. so even though the buyer does not pay after going through unpaid item process. the buyer can still leave a negative as above and according to ebay, that is a 'vaild' negative.

good work ebay way to go looking after your sellers :T

What are the specifics of your postage policy?

Well you did. A seller who refuses to combine postage is asking for trouble. O

rubbish. so in your eyes every seller HAS to combine postage or you'll hit the negative button?

example: i sell 2 dvds (each weigh 125g total inc jiffy 260g) maximum charge for postage is £1.25 x 2 = £2.50. royal mail charge me £2.16. so come on, how much should i knock off?

    34p perhaps?

Lets accept that it costs you 34p in packaging to send this package, so your point is you shouldn't be refunding anything?

How much would it cost you (i.e. royal mail plus packaging) to send 1 DVD? More than £1.25, I'm guessing. So you are saving money by sending two together. At least some of this saving should (in my ideal business model) be passed on to the customer.
Would you, having refused a discount, been miffed if the buyer had asked for the two DVDs to be sent separately?

But ultimately it's up to you and the buyer should check before bidding / buying.

If you are going to get advice on the actual issue, posting the actual situation and not an arbitrary example would be more helpful.

Phone ebay - they should remove that negative as the buyer didn't pay.

And dont forget to add the buyer to your blocked bidders list!

Exactly: NPB = negative removeable (in fact should not have been able to have been left at all, so I assume that they left it before the NPB case was closed). Personally, if someone specifically asks for combined postage, I give a little, even if it's only the saving on the PayPal fee.

Is the right answer and, if you didn't I too would be leaving negative feedback
