  • Hi Folks

I have had loads of these things over the years and binned them all the time. However, I thought I might just look a bit deeper. ;)

I got my 1 grand voucher....... :T . After reading all the threads about these various Prizes and Unclaimed Prizes I have had my beleifs confirmed.

I didn't bother with the phone call thing I just sent off for the claim number by post ... only cost the price of 2 stamps (1 on a self stamped addressed envelope).

Think I will send off for the catalogue, it's free, have a laugh at it,(if I get it) waste their time and money and then torch it..... :D

Gonna send off for the claim code for these other 2 unclaimed prizes and see what comes back ....:rotfl: *+

Glad you thought of making the checks!! This sort of scam shouldn't be allowed.

These scams will never go away because so many people are so gullible here in the UK. It scares me sometimes!!!

Do people really think that a company is going to lavish £1000 of quality items on them for nothing. They must be either stupidly greedy or mad if you ask me.

I agree, it beggars belief that people fall for these things.

If a company wanted to hand out free money they would simply stand on the pavement outside their offices, giving stacks of bank notes to passers-by.

Why on earth would they go to all the trouble of getting glossy invitations, mailshots, catalogues and scratchcards printed?

I assume we are talking about the same country that fell for things such as 'money trees' ... if so then one can never legislate for the really stupid in society.

I too got my winner's letter and follow ups from The Award Winners Exchange. If you fancy chatting to them on any particular subject, I tracked down the following number for them and, having spoken to them and asked the question outright, can confirm that it's correct: 01989 769797.

Having spent the price of a couple of stamps, I've subsequently discovered that I'm also the 'lucky' winner of a £1000 UK World Gift Catalogue certificate!! I notice that they're in Twyford which is only down the road from me, so I think I might pay them a visit to collect my fabulous catalogue!

Here the front of my fantastic gift certificate...

and here's the back showing a selection of the fantastic 'gifts' that I could spend my £1,000 on (note the reference to processing and delivery charges):

Unfortunately there's no sign of the LCD TV that I'd like to blow my £1,000 on!!
  • I too received a £1000 gift voucher for UK world catalogue via a scratchcard. The leaflet of samples available to buy looked like plastic tat and they only wanted two first class stamps to send me a catalogue. Can't be a very fat catalogue if they can send it for 64p. In the bin it goes.

I got an order from Yves Rocher today and there was some marketing material from other companies with it. One was an award (yes I know awards usually cost money when given so freely) of a £500 gift certificate to spend in the UK World gift catalogue. I just have to pay £1 to get the catalogue (I also have to phone a 0870 for it) and pay for p&p. It says I get "£500 worth of merchandise from the uk world gift catalogue without and product charges whatsoever". Anyone had this before? I can't find any catch but it looks too good to be true.

The World gift Catalogue is just another money spinning gimmick. It is a con. I looked into this when a friend of mine rang a premium rate number and was told he had won £2000 worth of shopping vouchers. He received a catalogue from this company. The charges made for delivery and admin will cost morwe than the item if bought in a shop. It is one big con. Leave alone.
