  • Yep I got that one, sooo nearly sent it off- figured Id probably spend that much in one night in the Uni bar anyway, but now thanks to you guys Im not sending it off- I must admit I was a little sceptical in the first place anyway!
  • Guess what? Had a scratch card this morning - scratched panels and low and behold - I've won two gold prizes!! Look on the back 1x this prize and that prize, 1000+ £1000 vouchers for 'UK World Gift Catalogue' 1000+ digital cameras. Google UK World Gifts - come up with you guys - scratch card in the bin, no ridiculous call charges incurred. Thanks very much!!
  • Hi all of you, I read with interest all the info on these 'amazing' vouchers. Earlier this year, probably around February I saw an advert for CRAFTMATIC BEDS and the ad said that by just filling in the form I may be put in a draw to win a £500 shopping voucher. So I filled it in and sent it off. A couple of weeks or so later I had a phone call to say my name had come up to go in the draw but it turned out I had to agree to a guy coming around to my home to demonstrate one of their beds. I said I had no intention of buing one and as long as the rep knew that then it was ok. Right, so he duely came and went through the demonstration and asked me what was preventing me from buying one. I replied that a) I needed a normal bed so that I could use for underbed storage, and b) I could not afford it anyway. So, he gave me a chart which I had to fill in over 30days showing my sleep patterns, or LACK of sleep & at the end of the 30days I would have convinced myself to buy one or I would send in the chart and they would send me a £500 voucher that I would be able to spend in a particular catalogue. He announced that he wouldn't tell me which catalogue it was but there were no catches. I would just have to pay postage & packing. Ther £500 voucher duly came and I was required to tear off the bottom portion & send it off and I would receive the catalogue within 28days. At least 56 days have gone by, still no catalogue. I have phoned the CRAFTMATIC BEDS rep twice to tell him and he just says I will get it eventually. I am beggining to wonder now!
  • i did the exact same thing. it was a scratchcard that said i'd won 2 gold prizes. i didn't phone or text the numbers tho, i just filled in the form and sent it off. the 2 przes i won were of course the digital camera that i had to send a cheque off for to cover postage, however the camera looked like it wasnt even worth the postage money so that went straight in the bin. the 2nd prize was a 1000 pound gift voucher for the uk world gift catalogue. and it did seem to good to be true. but i thought wht not send off for the catalogue (there is no charge for the catalogue) then i came on here n now i wish i hadn't bothered. oh well. at least i havent wasted any money on it.
  • If you read the small print about the prizes it says "Awards limited to" 1 x £20,000 4 X £2000 shopping spree 4 x Panasonic 42" HD Plasma TV 6 X Sony DVD Camcorder 1000 + x £1000 Gift Voucher?? Ding Dong! there goes the alarm!! 1000+ x £1000 = £1,000,000++ Thats some give away! It's a Scam stay away.
  • have just received letter from The Award Winners Exchange telling me that I have definitely won a prize. one of the prizes being a £1000 gift voucher for UK Gift Catalogue - there are 1000 of these to be won! surely not. Having read all these posts, it's going to go in the bin. Thanks everyone, you have just saved me a fortune.:j

I've had an "award winners exchange" letter too today and sure enough if you look in the smal print there, where it lists the frequency of the different prizes, most of the prizes are UK Gift Catalogue vouchers.

To claim the prize you need to spend £9 on phone calls.
smallprint: "£1000 gift voucher redeemable only against UK world Gift Catalogue, process and delivery charges apply"

If you get this letter, dont be a sucker... put it in the bin!
  • That is all a load of rubbish- it's not a scam. I bought a huge chair, two new beds and a wardrobe which all lookked like they cost £800+. It's a great catalogue*. (*No it's not!)

I'm surprised nobody has noticed the Trading Standards rulings back in 2005. A scratchcard company were giving prizes of £1000 to spend in "UK World Gift Catalogue". Sound familiar?

Of the 6 complaints 5 were upheld.

I suggest you have a read here.

For example it was questioned whether the catalogue RRP prices were genuine:
Because UKIP had not shown that the RRPs were genuine, the Authority concluded that SLG had not shown that the vouchers offered genuine savings on the advertised products. The Authority concluded that the description "£1,000 gift vouchers" was misleading and told the advertisers not to use the claim unless it could show that consumers could obtain genuine savings by using the vouchers.

Doesn't look like they took much notice.
  • Funnily enough, I got a letter in the post today from UK Incentives and Promotions, telling me that I've been allocated one of this year's awards....

I have a unique award ID and all I have to do is send an insured delivery charge of £20....

I'm guaranteed to receive on of the following:
    BMW Mini One
    £10k house makeover
    £10k cash
    £3k new kitchen
    £3k cash
    £2500 advantage award
    £2500 cash
    £1k Plasm TV
    £750 laptop
    £600 Italian holiday
    £250 cash.

My £20 delivery charge is fully refundable if I am unhappy in any way.

Wow - what an opportunity!!
