    ok,

so the general concensus is - get the tax rate on the V5 changed and put 6 months on it
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

just noticed you are wanting help valuing the car, have a look on ebay and in the auto trader, both of these will give you some idea of value. sell now with 3/4 months mot as that is a fair amount however if you plan on waiting a couple of months i would advise a new 12 month ticket.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

if you put 6 months on it you will have the added expense of keeping it insured while you try and sell it

If you take the old MOT certificate it will have 13 months MOT.
Yes a car Taxed + MOT is a big attraction to any buyer, it means it can be driven with just 1 phone call to insurance, where without it can be off the road for weeks whilst you await insurance documents.
Which would you call first ?
    13 months mot + 6 months tax

or not tax and 2 months mot

    Value - Low increase

    Appeal - High increase

More appeal means less chipping down as its a sellers market.

having spoken to DVLA again this afternoon -

I have to write to them to remove my deceased mother details from the registration of the car. a new V5 will be issued when the car is sold.
I cannot tax the car because it isnt in my name.
unless i am taking out new insurance it is not cost effective to tax/insure/renew the mot on the car

many thanks peeps for your help
