Vista with 1gb RAM is a dog - I would buy a 2gb ram stick for £18 from Crucial UK (free postage + lifetime guarantee) - one or two screws on the bottom and anyone would pop the new stick in (your handbook should even tell you how to do it).
then make sure all Vista Updates downloaded (inc SP2), run a clean disk, and defrag and you should be away.
If you have a virus the you may need extra help - but bottom line you DO need extra RAM even if you do eventually upgrade to Windows 7 - extra RAM is always the cheapest and best upgrade you can make.
PS: I say 2gb RAM as 1gb costs £11, so it is a snip at £18 for 2gb - it will run better, and will slow up more slowly over time with no doubt more Windows Updates ( Vista P3 anyone?)0 -
rob, if you read back, sh'e bought AN EXTRA gig each for two lappys the same, each with a Gig and a free slot.... the girl's done good (and so's hubby for fitting it

) ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Is the wrong answer. True if it is running Windows XP and has 1GB or is running Vista or Windows 7 and has 2GB or more but if its running XP on less than 1GB or Vista/Win9 on less than 1.5GB it will benefit from a RAM upgrade.0
