My son had this problem and posted a question on the GiffGaff boards. He got a reply almost instantly. A switch had to be switched on and it was all sorted very quickly. The boards are very closely monitored."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

So...it's giffgaff's problem that you can't set the correct APN settings for data?
You don't appear to have a lot of patience "phone in bin"...."no reply from the forum after 20 minutes" (who are mainly paying customers I might add....)
If you post on the forum the make and model of your phone, someone will almost certainly be along with the correct APN settings....but it's up to you to know how to add or change the current settings....the instruction manual is usually a good starting point....if you've got the patience to read it that is....0 -
I have been trying since yesterday 24 hours
I have read the faq on giffgaff
Phone is Acer liquid android 2.2 I can not find the apn anywhere and Oh have I tried
PS I am a paying customer and I didnt imply waiting 20 minutes like you suggest I was replying to 2nd post as they said they got a quick reply thats all so dont read anything into that

PMSL...I'm wounded....buy a smartphone, but clearly not quite smart enough to use it...
Try editing the Access Point Names...(APN)

It's access point names you want. Did you read the link posted by Tony 5101?The following step by step guide will walk you through installing the settings for Internet and MMS. The settings for both Internet and MMS have been combined into a single APN and will work for most Android phones running the following Android versions - 1.6, 2.1 and 2.2
- - Press the Menu key
- - Tap Settings
- - Tap Wireless & networks
- - Tap Mobile networks
- - Tap Access Point Names
- - Tap a giffgaff APN (if there are no APNs go to 10)
- - Press the Menu key
- - Tap Delete APN
- - Repeat 6, 7 and 8 until no giffgaff APNs remain
- - Tap the Menu key
- - Tap New APN
- - Tap Name then tap the text box and enter giffgaff then tap OK
- - Tap APN thentap the text box and enter giffgaff.com then tap OK
- - Tap Username then tap the text box and enter giffgaff then tap OK
- - Tap Password then tap the text box and enter password then tap OK
- - Tap MMSC then tap the text box and enter http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002 then tap OK
- - Tap MMS proxy then tap the text box and enter 193.113.200.195 then tap OK
- - Tap MMS port then tap the text box and enter 8080 then tap OK
