the system automatically thinks that as of 31st august, your child is no longer in education (even if you have told them otherwise). so they get removed from your claim and any payment that is made that includes 31st august onwards, will therefore be reduced accordingly (your latest award notice would have shown this reduction)

when you next payment is due, the system will have updated showing that they have stayed in f/t education, and your payments should more or less revert to normal, and a new award notice will be issued

how they treat this change in circumstance though does vary. some people find their payments dont change at all, whereas as already stated, in some cases the lost payments get spread over the year - there doesnt seem to be any hard and fast rule as to which method they use tho

  • just checked my bank.
Tax credits up by £1.11 - they stopped money for my 16 year old, same as others "the computer didn't update"

So I was down £59 last week, told different things when I rang and won't get it back and have to accept it spread over the next year!

What is happening to other people?

Is everyone getting the missing week spread over the coming year?
  • I had £100 missing from mine last week (single mum so lost the single parent element as well), and have had £16.96 paid in today
I get paid on a Friday, so will be interesting to see what goes in tomorrow!

Out of curiousity, is that saying you get £85 a week (or month) for one child? or was that your total weekly/monthly payment.

I ask as I have a 15 year old and trying to encourage him to stay on in education next year, :embarasse

I get £185 a week which is made up of £100 CTC and £85 WTC. Im a single parent, one child and im disabled. Work on average 29 hours per week.
I think the £100 CTC is made up from the child premium and a single parent premium.

  • My monthly payment arrived today and they have taken into account DD staying on, not sure how it's worked out yet though as had an odd payment yesterday and usual one today but they don't add up to the amount I was getting before she left. Guess I'll just have to wait till award comes through to see wat's going on.
