A few girls had them so I could never pinpoint who had mine, until one day I was playing with a girl and she casually said "oh has Priya given you back that album yet?" - in earshot of Priya who looked shocked. when I went to get my back to go home it had miracously been shoved in my bag.
last year the same Priya sent me a facebook friend request and the first thing I thought was "not after stealing my spice girls book love"!
Funny isn't it? Must be the first time we realised the world wasn't as innocent as we thought.0 -
When my daughter first started school I bought her two new cardigans. she had only done 2 half days just to introduce gently when her cardigan went missing. The following day I spoke to the teacher who promptly asked whose cardigan was she wearing!!!
A couple of weeks later the teacher told us they had a new looking cardigan which had had the label cut out! Did we want that one, my answer was no!
Not long after that her second cardigan went missing, so I sent her to school in a bright pink hoody. I told the school ( who were just about to have an ofsted visit) I was not buying another cardigan and daughter was wearing the hoody until her cardigan was found. It was returned the following day.
On a lighter note still whilst in foundation stage, she came home and I noticed that she wasn't walking right I didn't think any more about it until I went to put her school shoes the following day. They were the same style as hers but 2 sizes too big and the poor child was struggling to keep them on. I had visions of the other child hobbling around for two days as it must have happened when they had PE. We did get the correct ones back. Still makes me chuckle every time I think of it!:rotfl:0 -

too true, I remember being shocked that one of my friends could and did steal from me, then carried on actually normally to my face. I think I was about 8 or 9 and it definetly affected my trust with people.0 -
Along the same line, my son came home from primary school one day and I noticed his PE was realy heavy when I ooked he had 12 pairs of plimsolls in there, he said that everyone had left them so he put them in his bag
I was a bit embarrased the next day taking them all back.

They got to keep the gloves which indecently had a pink stripe across them. There is no way this lad would normally wear anything with pink in it!
How is it relevant that the mother was a single mum?? I'm sorry, but I take offence to that remark! Most single mum's didn't start out that way but have been thrown one of life's curveballs .. please don't be so judgemental.
My son's coat has been lost by the school too this week. He hadn't taken it to school that morning because the weather was fine, but it began to rain hard during the morning and I therefore took my son's coat (school logo, generic design) to the school during the morning and handed it to the school secretary. My son never saw the coat on his peg despite the secretary insisting that she had put it there and we are still hunting for it. It had a sewn in label.0 -
Carol - you may be a newbie but how on earth have you managed to drag up a thread thats almost 2yrs old? There have been thousands upon thousands of threads/posts since then.0

Equally, it's not particularly relevant that you're a single mum, but you've still felt the need to tell us such in your username.0 -

Sorry, I found the thread because I googled school lost coat. I have to admit I was a bit agitated at the time as I was annoyed about the loss of the coat. I was browsing this thread and I found that reference to single mums upsetting.
My username came about because I registered as a response to that post, in order to respond to it (not very clever of me) .. I wasn't thinking very clearly. We can all feel judged as parents and I have to admit that I'm probably over-sensitive in that respect.
I can only offer my apologies if I have upset anyone, I'm very sorry .. I was just upset by the remark and wasn't in a very good frame of mind when I posted in hindsight.0
