reversing into a BMW

It's a simple question - going about it privately, one payment and thats the end of it, no issues with your own insurance, no issues with your NCB
The alternative is an AT FAULT claim against you in your first year of driving, this will cost you hugely over the coming years with increased premiums.
Even if this woman asks you for £600 it will be cheaper for you in the long run.
The risk is that you do it privately and give her the money, only to wake up to a Personal Injury claim from her insurers for whiplash or some such ambulance chasing nonsense.
We're all law abiding on here though so you should do everything properly though insurance (maybe she was driving her husbands car for which she has no insurance for).0 -
I've had the same happen to me and the 3rd party just gave me cash to get it fixed, everyone was happy. However, with the claim culture we are currently in, I'd be quite cautious about the 3rd party coming back in 18 months time with a whiplash claim. Your insurance company might not be to happy to find you'e already accepted full liability for the accident and paid out yourself.
I have no idea what implications such actions may have, so I'm just saying it as a word of caution - perhaps there's someone else here with more knowledge than myself who can clarify.0 -
See those three bits of reflective glass on your car - one on each side and one in the middle of the windscreen? They're called mirrors and will show you what is behind you....
You really are the master of the bleedin obvious aren't you, and your post is as about as useful to the OP as the proverbial ashtray on a motorbike.
If you've nowt useful to say, don't bother :T0 -

Obviously it was useful advice as they didn't bother looking in their mirror and just looked over their shoulder. Had they used their mirrors, they wouldn't have hit the car....0 -
Pity you didn't follow your own advice when you backed your truck over that car then.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

Not really practical in a supermarket carpark when you have to load a trolley full of bags into your boot.Strider590 wrote: »If everyone reverse parked, this !!!! would never happen.
It's more risky to reverse out of a space than to reverse into one.0 -
I would be very careful about accepting a quote from her friend! How do you really know she has had the work done and hasn't just pocketed the cash?
At least through your insurance company you will be certain there is an actual claim!
My cousin settled "out of the insurance" and the car she had bumped never actually got the bump fixed. My cousin was £500 out of pocket and the owner of the bumped car was very obviously £500 better off......dodgy reciept from a mate of the man in the damaged car.
Be careful.8 months to go till end of the IVA :j:rotfl::T0 -
Would just like to arsk, why is the title "reversing into a BMW"?
Is there something special about BMW's that makes this more of an issue than if it had been any other German made Eurobox?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I find reversing an old banger into a BMW much more satisfying than reversing an old banger into a Skoda, Seat or VW.
