    Hi Toni

When I was on the pregnancy thread last time round, there was a mum from Northern Ireland (can't now remember her user name) who was admitted into the hospital mid second tri with heavy bleeding and stayed there until her baby was born, early but not scarily early (I think around 36 weeks). She bled continuously for months.

All you can do is listen to the medical advice and follow it. I do understand how hard it is though. I just got back from hospital today following a miscarriage in the first trimester and sitting in the waiting room to see the doctor with all the pregnant ladies coming in with urine samples, etc was crippling. Having also struggled with infertility, I know it's not as easy as to say "next one will be ok" but I truly hope this one will be fine with you. I still read ttc+ and so have followed all your story right from the start.

I am thinking about you tonight.
  • This happened to a close friend, she had a very big bleed at about 16 weeks, spotted on and off for days, followed by another big blled a week or so later, it was a cervical erosion. Her son is now a very healthy 7 yr old, so try and stay positive! All the signs are good, heartbeat, healthy baby on scan and closed cervix, rest up, try and stay calm and keep of google!!

    Best of luck xx

Awww i am so sorry that you are going through this,i know how worrying it is because i have gone through it too,i had a very heavy bleed at 20 weeks with one of mine and was rushed off to hospital fearing the absolute worst but she is now a very happy and healthy 10 year old.

They never found a reason for the bleed and when they examined me everything looked just fine.

Rest up and take it easy for a while and of course if you have anymore worries don't be afraid to ask for another check up xx

I had a heavy bleed at 15 weeks with my youngest, there was literally a pool of blood under my chair in A&E. It stopped and I had a few more bleeds but nothing as bad, I was told my son would be small and early but he was actually 2 weeks late.
I had to make a lot of changes such as putting 18 month old in a bed and buying a buggy she could climb in and out of to avoid lifting (I had 5 and 7 year old boys as well so bed rest wasn't possible) but we got there in the end and I hope you do too.
To be honest nothing anyone says will completely stop you worrying, every time you go to the loo you will be checking but every day is another day nearer.

Nicki, I'm so sorry to hear your news. :( Big hugs.

Op - I had bleeds throughout my pregnancy with DD and she is 2 now. Mine were because of really bad thrush, but lots of blood and very scary. I know it's hard, but try to relax and hopefully baby will be fine. :)

    It was Mrs Moc :)

Very sorry to hear of your miscarriage Nicki :( xx
  • I've no advice as my bleed was only light and at 7 weeks, I suffered from brown discharge until about 18 weeks and that was worrying enough so I really feel for you having to go through this. Look on the bright side though, the doctors have checked you out and everything is currently ok. There certainly do seem to be numerous cases where ladies have unexplained bleeds during their pregnancies, and everything turns out fine. I really hope this is the case for you too.

Hi Toniq. I had quite a bit of bleeding between 21 and 25 weeks. On 4 occasions I had bright red blood like the start of a period. I went to the maternity department on all 4 occasions and was scanned and the baby was happily moving around. I was also checked and told my cervix was closed and the placenta was in the correct position. A swab was taken and urine samples and all came back clear. My baby was 11 days overdue and a healthy 8 lb 4.5 oz. She is now 9 months old and perfect in every way.

My bleeding was never explained, but did happen when I physically exerted myself too much and I assume it was my body telling me to take it a bit easier.

I hope all goes well with your pregnancy and attend the EPC if this happens again.

Sorry to hear of your MC Nicki - be kind to yourself xxx

OP - I had bleeds at 12/15/17/28 weeks with my last pregnancy. I was diagnosed as having a sub-chorionic clot - an area (left side of uterus in my case) where the side of uterus detatches and fills with blood - it was re-absorbed and I went on to have a healthy baby born at 39+6, remarkably easy delivery and now a very bright 6 month old
