Apologies if TMI
I am not asking for medical advice just someone to tell me"hey i went through this and was fine" to give me some hope.
I am 17+7 pregnant with a frozen ivf baby,
Sunday last week I had a slight blood stained discharge, went to East surrey antenatal ward in a panic, they checked babys heart beat and cervix , baby heart fine and cervix closed, dr very dismissive done a smear and sent me home................smear came back clear.
Sat early hours just gone, I woke up desperate for a wee, I usually go every 2 hrs or so, on wiping had bright red blood on tissue, had major panic attack, hubby calmed me down took me to East surrey..........
There i had an urgency to wee every 15 mins or so and when i went to wee more blood passed, not much hit the pad as it was generally on urinating pressure. It was a heavy bleed.
Baby was listened to and fine and cervix again checked and fine, they took me up to the ward to admit me but as we walked into the ward a few very pregnant ladies were being induced and it was too much for me too be around so I came home.
The bleeding stopped by 5amish, then it was just residual blood, there were never any clots.
Roll on 24 hrs Sunday early hours a bit more blood, we waited till 9am and went back to East surrey, saw a fab Dr who understood our concerns and found a portable scanner and checked baby, who was fine, checked placenta which was not covering cervix, she done her best to reassure us that baby at the moment is fine and all could be totally fine, she just can't guarantee anything. First time in all our visits we haven't been made to feel we were silly and daft for being there.
So now i have gone 36 hrs no bleed, I am on bedrest and terrified that i wont make it to viability to give baby any shot at life, can someone tell me anyone who has had similar and had a successful end to pregnancy?
I know I still have a chance of losing baby and we are not out of the woods, the bleed was def vaginal, just don't know exactly where and because i'm only just hitting 18 weeks they wont do anymore as it makes no difference to their non-treatment of cases like this.
I know everyone around me has said stay calm and rest, but it's so hard knowing next time i get up to go to loo baby could be leaving, I am shell shocked after everything we have gone through that this could be happening.
many thanks for reading and any words of hope that you can give x

So sorry that this is happening to you Toniq.
I don't really know anything about it, but I'm sure someone on the less than 12 weeks thread, mentioned the other day that a friend had bleeding throughout her pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy baby

i had a lot of bleeding episodes in my first pregnancy and he is 6 now, hope you have no more trouble xHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Will post a longer reply later if possible but I had bleeding on and off throughout my pregnancy, ending up with blue light to hospital at 30 weeks, bed rest for a month then surprise natural labour and birth at 35 weeks. Baby was very healthy, and has just started school - today!
Take things easy, try to find things that distract you from thinking about it all the time and take a day at a time.0 -
Toniq I'm so sorry, it must be so stressful (I'm only 23 weeks too). My colleague bled near enough constantly throughout both her pregnancies, was never given an explanation for it, just seemed to be one of those things... both sons fine tho.
Try to keep calm and still, make the most of the bed rest, I'll be thinking of you.

I had slight bleeding throughout my first pregnancy, i didn't even realise i was pregnant until i was about 15 weeks gone because of this ! When i found out i was pregnant my doctor said i had to rest, which i did, and my son was born 3 weeks early and is now a strapping 6' 24 year old ! Try not to worry too much, don't want to sound too depressing, and i really do understand how much this baby must mean to you both, but if the baby doesn't want to stay then it won't, doesn't mean to say that it will happen twice. If you're worried, go to the hospital and if they want to admit you, stay there, they'll keep an eye on you and you probably won't worry so much. Hope all goes well for you both xxxx0

Did they rule out a urinary tract infection? I know you said it was def vaginal blood, but as it only seemed to show when peeing, and cos you had the need to pee so often, it's making me wonder. Hugs for you xxFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0

Hun, I have no experience of it personally but as others have already posted it can and does happen and be fine.
All I can do is tell you to rest as much as you can and try (I know, impossible!) not to worry.
Thinking of you x2 angels in heaven :A0 -
I had a bleed at 14 weeks which scared the carp out of me so I know what you are going through. I'm 32 weeks now and all is going ok although I still check the toilet roll every time I go to the toilet
. Try and relax as much as you can - I know that is very hard. Wishing you all the best. I was told at 14 weeks it's very unlikely that anything would be going wrong so I think at 17 weeks you will be fine xx
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
I had a bleed at 17weeks with my youngest son, he's now 10 months old - no other complications in that pregnancy, had another bleed a day or so before he was born (your idea of heavy may not match the professionals) at 39 weeks but no problems. In my case the bleed was caused by a cervical erosion and polyp - so it was my blood rather than coming from the baby0

My immediate thought was also cervical erosion.. it is extremely common and especially if you have had treatments down below!
With DD1 i was in and out of hospital constantly.. I had the first bleed at 6 weeks and then roughly every 2-4 weeks I would be back in because I was bleeding again. she is now 17.
I got married at 34 weeks and spent the wedding night at home (sleeping!!!) and sent the next 2 nights in hospital.. she was born at 37 weeks... 19 days after the wedding!
If they can see no cause for the bleeding and the cervix is closed and they swabbed for infection there is little else they can do. Did they check for UTI? or something as simple as thrush which can also cause bleeding! and doesnt necessarily come with symptoms!
I had smaller bleeds off and on with all my pregnancies.. it is normal to bleed about the time your missed periods would have been due as well.. might this be the case? Red blood on passing urine only is not a heavy bleed.. it is just a bit.. heavy bleeding is soaking pads and clothes so the hospital wont be worried by what is essentially heavy spotting! They definiely wouldnt have wanted you to go home if they thought there was any risk to you or the baby... so unless you discharged yourself against their advice.. they are not bothered, means all is ok.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
