my dh isn't massively helpful - he is up for paying the mortgage off early but doesn't seem to realise that we have to change our mindset and habits to acheive it!!! :doh:However, I find that it improves over time....one day it may sink in totally, but I shan't hold my breath!!! :rotfl:Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Beth - huge well done you really look to be making great progress to be mortgage free. So give yourself a well deserved pat on the back.:T
As others have advised stick at it as each overpayment is a big bonus and of course paying off the other debts goes hand in hand. I've been in a similar position where had old uni debt and it seemed to take forever to pay off, however now im debt free (bar mortgage and student loan) im determined to stay this way!

Morning all,
Feeling much better today not so tired still got the annoying cough but all in all feeling much better.
Oh slept though the alarm this morning so didn't go into work for the overtime - I'm secretly please about that as today is the first day in about a month we have had a whole day together as a family.
Did the weeks shop yesterday, it was sooooooooooooo embarrassing I forgot my pin for my debit card, Luckily I had some cash but still had to put some stuff back as didn't have enough, then remembered it after all that and had to buy it again.
oh though it was Hilarius when I told him. I think he was pleased as once I sent him shopping he went to pay and found out He had no card or cash so came home with nothing lol:rotfl:
Completely forgot about going to see Lee Evens on Tuesday, really looking forward to it, First time in months me and oh have been on a date.
Today is a lazy day, lazy morning, may do some housework later then make a nice roast chicken for dinner.

I thought it would be a nice idea to give a bit of history.
OH is now 30 and I am 28, soon to me 29!! We have been together since I was sweet sixteen.
We moved into the most horrible rented flat when I was 19 and we lived in this hovel till I was 21.
At the grand old age of 20 I could not stand to live in a rented place any longer, I had a good wadge for my age of 24k and hated the fact that house prices where flying up out of my reach. I was determined I would get a place of my own and I was not going to take no for an awnser.
I saw a couple of financial adviser who said I would only get £74k, £74k where I lived wouldn't get you a brick wall let alone a house. I was getting a little put off but not that much, I final thought I would give it one last shot so I suited up and book an appointment with the manage of the local HSBC. I had a meeting with him and came away with a interest only mortgage of £123k, I then took out a loan for the 5%. I new IO was a risk but a calculate risk I thought long and hard about.
We stated looking ( at this time OH was out of work) .
Where we both grow up £127k would not get you 2 brick walls so we where forced out away from all our family and friends. We final found a one bed house we paid 127k for and lived their till 2007. In this year I has DS1.
OH & I like to keep track of what going on and decided it would a good idea to get out of the 1 bed, interest only mortgage and into a bigger house we could stay in as we new everything was about to kick off, which they did. Thank god for wake up to money.
We sold in the summer of 07 ( just in the nick of time) for 150k making a nice profit for only a couple of year into our now 3 bed semi almost forever house.
At this point I was still on maternity leave and Oh was on a nice wadge of 37k.
Fast forward to today oh was made redundant but was lucky to only be out of work for 1 week as he took the frst thing he could to keep us afloat but was only on 11k we then built up debt of 6k which we are paying off and have 5k left, I had DS2 in 2008. After my maternity realised the only way I was going to beble to afford to go back to work was to work for my self, which I did and still do. OH temp job took him on permanently and his wadge has improved to 22k not what it was but to be honest it was a blessing he was working 90hr, 6 days a week we never saw him and no amount of money is worth that.
We are now a happy family of 4 MFW's xxxMFIT-T3 - 31 = (2012 £3050) 2013 op = £3009
