Re the finance, are you looking at 0% for 6 months or buy-now-pay-later with deferred interest and circa 29.9% APR deals?
What are the drawbacks of this? What would you recommend in my position? (apart from, "saving" or "getting a cheaper one")

You can get a 42" plasma for about £400.0 -
With a default on your account already, theres a good chance you'll be turned down for credit, which will in turn have an adverse affect on your credit file, much like the application for car finance. Can you risk your credit file taking a further nose dive? I'd wait, save the money and buy the TV outright. And look around. £750 is a rip off in anyones book.:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0

Ahh, I just want to spoil myself this once!! I don't drink, smoke or go out and I do enjoy a lot of TV/movies and in particular gaming, so I'd like to invest a little more in it...
The problem is you haven't really got the money to spoil yourself, have you?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

A good point. While I like my home cinema too, I too would be careful about the subtle distinction between 'spoil' and 'ruin' in this case.0 -
I was actually looking at the buy-now-pay-later option, as that, if I understand correctly, allows me to pay it off wiothin 2/3/4 months and only incur a "admin fee", which is approx £30 across most companies.
Very unlikely to be accepted for these types of deals with a default on file.
0% finance deals are hard to get, only people with a pretty perfect credit file and credit history tend to be accepted. Other people with okay files might be accepted for a finance deal but with interest, but people with poor credit files, such as having a default, are likely to be declined.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Store Finance with a default, you are looking at the likes of BrightHouse unfortunately
and you really don't want to go down that routeIt's a health benefit ...0 -
£750 for a tv?
WOW - It must be huge??
You can get a 40-42" LED 3D TV for £600 easily now. And like the others said - IF you have a good income, save for it - dont use finance.
CASH IS KING0 -
All academic as there's no chance of 0% with a default anyway, even if you wanted a 50ft Jumbotron the answer would be a big fat no."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

Damn, sucks! Thanks all anyway!0
