Store finance on TVs etc?

in Credit cards
Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right forum for the question, but couldn't really see where else it'd fit.
I'm wondering if anyone could let me know how strict the credit checks are on finance for a £750 TV for e.g.? I was refused a car on HP as I have a default on my account which was accrued 4 years ago, but I have since built up flawless credit and have noticed some promising improvements on my credit portfolio. I also clear a sizable monthly wage (at least in relation to the cost of aforementioned TV cost).
just wondering if there are differing levels of strictness in obtaining finance, or if it's one size fits all, regardless of the cost?
Regards,
Z

The credit reference agencies hold information going back 6 years on you - so the default will be on there for them to see if they want.
The only true way to get an answer is to apply - the worst thing is that they say no.0 -
I'd check out Very.co.uk. There interest rate is unbelievable but my girlfriend opened an account with them and they gave her £500. She has no job and only a couple of months on Next as credit history which is what surprised me about it.0

Cheers guys - any other help?0

If you clear a 'sizeable' income could you not just save up over 2/3 months and then purchase the TV. There's no point in taking out a credit agreement unless you absolutely have to.0

Why is there no point? I want a TV now... Isn't that the point of credit/finance options?
And don't patronize me.0 -

Yes I can see why you want to take out credit, but I think the point he was trying to get accross is that is it worth denting your credit history further for a TV that you could easily get in 2/3 months. Every failed credit check makes it harder to get more credit!
I would never think about getting a TV on credit, I would either get a cheaper one or save up for a few months. Just my way!0 -

£750 is a lot for a TV.
You can get a 42" plasma for about £400."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
