  • How have you calculated £157k?

  • The debt I am working on very hard now, so that will get sorted I know,

Sorry I must have mis-posted (excuse the pun), I purchased for the same price in 2008 - 157K plus odd
  • Thats just what I paid, I guess I cant owe more than I paid can I, because you pay interest first right? Sorry you can see I have no idea

I want to sell but I need something else, we have just discovered that we have no "good" schools for our daughter to go to and this is what has really caused me to realise what has happened here. I need a place to live, I don't want to rent as then all of this has been a waste of time, the idea was to make a start. But it seems I may end up going backwards now :-/

All you've done is rent though. You rented 75% from the HA and 25% from the mortgage company. In 3 years you'll have chopped next to nothing off the mortgage debt.

On top of that you were presumably responsible for all maintenance - so you got a worse deal than you would have from renting.

Can you let the property and rent somewhere with a school for your daughter?

    Oh dear.

    Was it a repayment mortgage?

If nobody will buy it, there is not much you can do.
  • well I hope that a fool like me will, that's really bad I know, but I need to do something and I did the same I guess, so maybe that's life, I don't know.
