Bethebee - good luck for your blood test tomorrow

My grandad is back on his normal ward and managed a little walk with a nurse today, so I am happy with that news, not going to hear too much more until the Dr sees him tomorrow.
Going to speak to work and maybe head up wednesday and come home friday if i can get the time off.

My desk has arrived! need BIL to take some more stuff from the room before I can assemble it.

Not eating dinner till 9:30 as OH doesn't think he'll be home much earlier than that, so going to sort lunches for tomorrow in a minute, and then start cooking dinner at about 6:30/7ish

  • Well I had one of the sticky toffee cupcakes, I mean really I HAD to try one as they're to be sold for charity and so I need to make sure they were edible... oh my god they were delicious! Had tonnes of icing left over so have popped it into a freezer bag and put it in the freezer ( that way I'm not tempted to sit with a spoon and eat it all! ) Still got loads of dulce de leche leftover so have perused the internet to find out what I can use it for and might make some millionaires shortbread with it, just not today, feel like I've been in the kitchen all day!

FB - Well at least the weather was nice whilst you were out, and it sounds as though you had a lovely day :)

Beth - Good luck for tomorrow x

bramble - I'm so happy to hear your grandad is doing better

ELACLA - Thats pretty much the dinner I've just demolished! I think its starting to feel more autumnal now and thats when I look forward to my roast dinners
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011 :D
  • No need to apologise again, FB :D its quite funny. Lou's DS went through a period of calling me and.laughing like a maniac down the phone a,month or two ago.

Carwise, I an looking at a Kia Rio, its quite zippy, can do up to 88mpg, and the one I have,my eye on is a no road tax one. Kia also have a 7yyear g/tee on their cars. I did want a big saloon, but I really need to cut back, and this one is ten thousand for a brand new one. Be a few months yet, mind you.

Duck race went ahead this afternoon, we had a good time and sold loads of home baking - my cupcakes were a real winner! DD came home from work loaded with a cold and not feeling too hot. DS2 arrived back with my car and the two of them have gone to Edinburgh to watch the end of the Festival fireworks. DD will stay there tonight and come back tomorrow as she has a day off. DS2 will stay there as he has a job! Went for an interview on Wednesday and starts tomorrow in a customer service call centre. Typical, he doesn't know who for but he was determined to get a job of some sort until he can find something that he really wants to do. He has finished his Master's degree (just) so is busy looking for something in the Marine Biology field. Really proud that he is willing to do anything to keep him going, it must be so easy for graduates to have a big rest.

FB- liking your choice of car, not sure about the Kia JackieG - we had a bad experience with a Sedona, lots of seats for the money but unfortunately the engine wasn't built to last and blew up twice! Hopefully they have improved now.

Betheebee - Hope all goes well for tomorrow.

JackieO - I have put the fire on and closed the blinds. The weather here hasn't been too bad today (ie, it hasn't rained yet) but your post made me feel all wintery!

Hope you have all had a good weekend and have a good week ahead. Take care. XX

    Evening everyone

Don't seem to get time to post lately, had my parents staying for last 4 days. They are travelling back today. Been trying to keep up with garden & decluttering before I start work tomorrow.

Os today stripped beds but still waiting to be washed. Kitchen cleaned & dw put on afterhaving family bbq yesterday. Also done a couple of hours gardening. Ds2 & I went round village where they were doing garage sales with a donation to the church, managed to get a picnic rucksack with all pieces in it & tags attached for £2.

Got to get things ready for morning, will be a shock to the system after being at home for 12 months. I'm very nervous but am hoping will be ok tomorrow.

Jackieg - thinking of your family & friends.
Redruby - did your dad enjoy his cake? Hope he is ok.
Bramble - glad your grandad is ok, hope you manage to sort your time off.
Beth - hope the blood test is ok tomorrow.

Sorry if I have missed anyone. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care

    Dinner smells so lovely!

We're having a recipe out of a good food magazine, it's braised beef with onions, jackets stuffed with lleeks and boursin and thyme carrots and peas.

Didn't have enough suet for the jam roly poly so have some rice pudding in the oven instead.

OH is still at work, hopefully he'll be back in time so dinner isn't ruined. He's got 30 mins!

Lunches are made and i've put the bins out, didnt end up doing any washing today, hope i don't regret that!

    Hello all,

Did a bit of shopping this am and went to see cousin who had stroke some weeks ago....he is much improved and seems to be looking forward to things, which is good, has been told that if all goes well and he continues to progress that he could be looking at going home, with help, in about 6 months, hope it works.

Had steak, stir fried home grown veg and chips for dinner, then some apple sponge for pudding....would have liked custard with it, but OH didn't want any so didn't bother.

Beth....good luck with blood test to-morrow and remember that chat you and OH had this morning!

Good luck with job to-morrow topsy.

Camelot...you've bothered me now about cars....was thinking of a KIA when my clio gives up the ghost, hoping that it won't be for a while as really want to visit DD3 in Perth next year and can't do both in 2012 without borrowing, took me sooo long to get out of debt that I have a horror of borrowing again....we shall see what happens.

Have been looking for a book of knitted flowers that I promised to lend somebody in knitting group....can I find it, hell no, will have a look to see if there is anything on ravelry.

Cold here to-day, heavy rain this afternoon, OH lit the fire, so at least we not using oil. Made some soup too, that's for me for to-morrow as OH is not a soup fan, can't understand why as I love it and like to vary the veg and flavours as much as possible.

Bramble, hope that your grandfather continues to improve.

See, brainpower ( I have a brain???) all gone for now, so will send hugs to all, welcome to newbies, sleep well and stay safe.

I love your post today, Jackie. I feel like I am wrapped in a warm blanket now. :)

Thank you my late husband said that coming home was the best thing in the world as our home was exactly that a home ,not a place where he ever felt uncomfortable and as he opened the door the love and comfort poured out which I thought was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me bless him goods and possessions never interested him at allIt mattered not one jot if the carpets were threadbare or the furniture was worn out (at times early on it was)it was the warmth of our family that he loved .He spent 3 years in the Sudan working in the early 1980s and only came home on leave every three months but I had to write every day to say exactly what we were doing and tell him about the weather and the most inconsequential things but it was his link with his home.He would get letters in bundles now and again as Port Sudan wasn't good for mail and he would only get it if he or someone was going to Khartoum 800 miles away.So my letters which I posted daily were numbered in the top right corner of the envelope so he could read them in order. He brought them home with him when he evetually came back to England to work and there was a huge grip full of them :) we had a big bonfire of them after he was home for good and he said he would never work away again as it was too hard no matter what the money was.He then had 13 months out of work until he found a new job but he never wavered in that he was going to return to Africa.he got far too homesick I think.
