  • Guys, I've been following your posts (great stuff by the way, love it) and have a question. These vouchers you keep talked about (the ones lying around in store) - where can I find them? Are they given out by staff while paying? Do I have to find them myself, piled up by the CS? I saw a scan someone posted of one back in december, and can't recall ever seeing anything like that. Also, question - are these physical voichers that once you scan, become in invalid? for e.g. if the voucher is for 50 extra points for h & B, then you get 50 points for each h & b item you buy?

thanks in advance for any tips.
  • Hiya princessalena  and firstly welcome to MSE and congrats on your first post

The Health and beauty vouchers can be found by the pharmacy or located on the toiletry aisle. Really it depends on the store, I have found some at bottoms of tills and at the CS desk too. They are not handed to customers generally, they are just left on the side and people pick them up as they walk past.

The vouchers are paper vouchers - if you bought 6 h&b items costing £12 - you would need 6 50 point vouchers to get the full amount of 6 x £2 spends. I wish it was only one 50 point voucher that remembers this and gives it per spend but it is not. The amount of vouchers have to be equal to your spend.

If you were to spend say £12 - you could use 1 x £2.50 h&b voucher, 3 x £1 h&b vouchers, 2 x £1.25 quit pack vouchers meaning you pay £4 and if you had 6 x 50 pointers you will have also gained 300 points (£12 at MFI)

    Hope that helps

  • Thanks for the quick reply! To be honest, the main thing I'm after are extra points (I convert them to BA miles as you get *tons*) - am I right in understanding therefore that these vouchers - in addition to giving you the money off, also give you extra points?

Or are there vouchers that just give you extra points? The reason I ask is because the Tesco h & b scan I saw from December said 50 points if you spend £2 in h & B. So what I had understood was that if you did 5 separate transactions, each worth £2 from h & b, then you get a total of 250 points? or am I seeing this all wrong? Sorry for asking you all these questions, but you guys have me all inspired now!

Welsh - Dragon, could you explain the maths just a little.

Your example says spend £12, then using £8 worth of vouchers to pay for the shopping will leave you £1 in credit???
  • oops Quentin - I am tired today, I was thinking of using a book voucher and a £1 voucher for a magazine too as I was planning a shopping trip, oops will amend post now

Yes if you did 5 seperate transactions you would get 250 points. However, if you did one transaction spending £10 and handing over the same 5 points vouchers you would get the 250 points on the one transaction. Either or way of getting the 250 points really

  • Hi Welshy - got it thanks! One final thing - these vouchers, are they typically individual, small individiual sheets of paper - or part of an A4 page of offers? Just trying to get a good idea so I don't look suspicious when on the lookout next time!
  • Hi there - They are booklets that fold out, with the vouchers on the inside page. I finally found some locally earlier this week, this was at a fairly large store which is NOT an Extra. I had asked at the Pharmacy counter when I entered the store, and the ladies there assured me there were NO Health&Beauty offers on currently and they certainly had NO leaflets of any sort, and lo & behold, when I get to the checkout after my grocery shop I spot them at the end of all the tills!! Scooped up a few on my way out ;) . And also picked up a few more £1 off inserts from the free Tesco mag bin, which is usually near an exit. You will find that all the 50pt ones get used way before you run out of all the other vouchers. HTH.

I couldn't wait to get on here and share my H+B success today.

I did a full grocery shop so the H+B transactions weren't too conspicuous!

    Bought:
    2 x Mcleans Toothpaste (£2.45 BOGOF)
    2x Herbal Essences (£2.78 BOGOF)

    Used:
    1x £2.50 H&B
    2x £1.25 Beauty
    2x £1 H&B
    2x £1.25 toiletry
1x 50 points (only one left)

£9.50 H&B/Quit vouchers accepted on a toiletry spend of just over a fiver! :j

As it was a big grocery shop I also used £2.19 worth of manufacturers coupons and reused my carrier bags for green points! ;)

Thanks to everybody on this thread for their help and advice!

i am gutted to say it but i think that the fun is over in my local store. i have never had any problems with the h&b coupons and more recently the quit kit ones, but have had no joy at all on my last 3 shops!! the first time the cashier called for supervisor - i had bought £20 tolietries incl gilette blades etc (so not all bogof) and they scrutinised the receipt and say that I could only use 1 x £2.50 coupon, 1 x £1 and 1 x £1.25 as i had only spent enough to qualify for that. next 2 tries all the supervisors are watching like hawks for voucher usage. today - the usually lovely supervisor came over (so i know it is not just her being awkward) - i had spent just over £20 - all bogof's - so just over £10 after bogof - again she looked carefully at the till roll and worked out I could only use 1 x £2.50 and 1 x £1 coupon. she said that you CAN combine the coupons but they will work out what you are actually spending and let you use the total no of coupons accordingly.

There are also NO self scanners locally.

She also went on to tell the young lad on the till that "upstairs" are really watching this - as people have been scanning everything through and she told him not to do it or "it will only come back on you".

I am usually very wary about naming stores - but this was Ricoh in Cov - anybody know whether any of the other local stores take these ok, as I have some more I would love to use and th eoffers are also changing soon?

    Thanks

    Debxx
