We've got this http://twistedtwee.co.uk/pint--half-pint-set-mint-choc-chip-p-527.html the sizes for kids seem to be huge, my DD's been wearing hers for about a year lol. I am going to get another in a bigger size now she's grown out of hers cos it is so cute - makes a great Father's Day gift.

The one I'm thinking of is

Sorry, I forgot to answer the actual question!

I didn;t shower for about 3 months after DD was born, I had to strip wash and sometimes 'washed' with baby wipes as she'd cry if I tried to put her down so I also say no t pampering stuff and to pedicure vouchers.

Things I appreciated apart from time which OP cannnot do:

Trashy magazines which are easy to read for the odd five mins respite that you get, and for flicking through while sitting under a sleeping baby

Phone calls and texts that required little of me but made me feel human

Food - I love the idea of the local pub delivering food, but you could also send a Sainsburys/Tesco/Ocado delivery to the house full of lovely things or even just quality ready meals

Cleaning - could you hire a local cleaner for her for a few hours? Maybe check with her first! My mum used to visit weekly to do all my laundry and cleaning and it was so helpful.

I'll be honest, many gifts I was given weren;t very useful, like parenting books, or pamper stuff, and the main gift that WAS useful related in some way to people giving me their time.

By the way, my mum lives 100 miles from me and used to visit me as a day trip, so although you might not want to do it weekly (!) it IS possible for you to visit her for a day and do things for her or take a meal.

We will definitely visit and I'll do what I can when we do, but I think I'll wait until things have settled down a bit...I expect for the first little while she'll be swamped with family and local friends!

And she will appreciate a visit later on much more anyway. You sound like a lovely friend.

  • To be honest that is the typical attitude that stops equality working both ways. If the father has been there every step of the way then he should not be treated as a second class citizen in this situation.

Granted if he hasn't then thats fair enough.

I asked if he had given birth and was breastfeeding. That's all.

What is muslin used for exactly?

The safe option for me is either chocolates, wine or flowers..All women love them and since she must be bombarded with so much going on lately, this will be something that eases her on..

Muslin is technically a particular type of fabric but lots of people talk about muslins and mean a soft cloth (like a flannel - also the name of a type of fabric but used to refer to a cloth)

They're really handy for all sorts of clean up jobs!

If she's breastfeeding she can;t drink the wine because the alcohol will gointo the baby via her milk.

She might want to avoid the chocolate too because of the caffeine, because it goes through the milk into baby.

And just to totally dampen your fire, I had so many flowers after giving birth I had nowhere to put them all!

I think there are much better suggestions on his thread.

Haha - sorry i totally wasn't having a go at all :A I work in a place where i have to have contact with mums/babies/kids for a majority of each working day and it made me laugh cos LOADS of people do actually call them musliM cloths.. and i can't laugh with them and explain cos i might be seen as being mean etc etc. So it was years worth of repressed laughter tbh! Soz :o

Also, once i had a mum tell me that was wasn't going to use "them muslim cloths anymore cos of the bombings - i dont want my money going towards things like that"..... OH how i kept a straight face i shall NEVER know! :A
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?
