Loughborough BS have just announced an 8.00% Regular Saver ending 31/03/09 at a variable rate of at least 2.5% above Base Rate.
Almost exactly same conditions as Lloyds (£250 per month maximum deposit) but you can miss one in twelve payments (2 in 24).
This offer WILL NOT be around long.

Thanks for this Afahmaep. I've phoned for an application pack. As you say, terms are pretty similar to the 'old' LTSB 2 year monthly saver, though it doesn't look like you can kickstart with an initial £500. I'll have a close look at the TCs when they arrive.

You can download the application form here

3k a year for 2 years but no initial £500 like the LTSB. Still good - the extra year compared to the others currently available. Well found!

One difference seems to be that you start the account with the same amount as you will pay in each month, and you can't change this amount except at the time of the anniversary of opening - and you have to write to them to tell them what the change is going to be.

Also you can only make one withdrawal a year - and that includes withdrawing interest.

As indicated above, the rate isn't fixed

Just rang again - was told they will be honouring any accounts successfully applied for yesterday. Nice result, moral of the story - don't leave until last minute next time!

Update - they have wriggled out of it saying that signatures will be required for the normal account and the saver would not be given until that happened, so therefore they can only offer me the new deal. Even if I had applied mid last week by telephone I still would not have been allowed to sign up due to the forms process.

Oh well, Loughborough here we come.

:D;) . We must think alike. I posted the same statement as yours on the Loughborough BS RS thread before seeing your post above.

I'll get my application in tonight, as it's likely that they'll withdraw this account very soon.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I popped into Bank Monday to fill in forms etc to open this account. Great a £500 boost then a further £250 later in March and 250 every month thereafter at 8% a great deal. Yesterday the guy rang me to say that the account was coming up as a 1 year account (this is the newone) I told him unless I could get 2 years i wouldn't bother. Heypresto he rang me back and I went in today to sign paperwork. It might not be too late to go after this one after all.
I understand the advisor had to draw it up manually, but yipeeeeeee I got in.:j :j :j :j
