To those people who managed to open an account yesterday - did you open a Classic at the same time or was it purely a Monthly Saver?

I'm recalling an argument with ejones where I didn't really want an argument and was not even trying to prove a point (just saying that things were not clear). However the other party just would not let it go.......

Edit: been looking back and I cannot find it. Also, I not the ejones has made lots of helpful post so I am going to give the benefit of the doubt here. Anyway, calm down people. And thanks for the idea that we might be able to have the 'new issue' as some banks would term it

Edit2: found it here 'Have it your own way LIPIDICMAN.'

Wonder when they will update the LTSB website which is still showing the 2-year account.

I was wondering that too. Guess there is still time to bag a two year account if you want one!

Just rang again - was told they will be honouring any accounts successfully applied for yesterday. Nice result, moral of the story - don't leave until last minute next time!

That's exactly how I feel in this thread. I didn't write any of my posts to make any arguments with anyone on this thread. Like you, I was just saying that it's not clear - whether LTSB will or won't allow existing (2 year) monthly saver holders to open the 1 year account.

I didn't think I was doing anything wrong by waiting for the official line from LTSB, after the 1 year account was launched and then reading the t&c's that apply to this account. Oh well, not to worry...:) I'm wondering when LTSB will update their website. Customers who haven't read this thread may apply thinking they are going to get the 2 year account.

As I was the one to ask whether it would be possible to have both savers I can now answer my own question !!!

NO !! (though that's open to interpretation or am i being too perdantic)

'You can have one Monthly Saver either in your name or jointly with someone else'.

So does that mean ONE regular savings account (applying to the 1 year saver only) OR ALL regular savings accounts !!

    Crystal !!!!

I'd say 1 Regular Saver. FULL STOP !

    Hah, no loophole here:
'We can refuse to open an account or to accept a deposit without giving any reason.'

That probably applies to every account they offer. If they declined to accept your money because they thought it was being laundered, they couldn't tell you that was the reason!
