From the Bestselling Author of Codex and Sequence Adrian Dawson
What Have WE Got To Hide...?

http://www.adriandawson.co.uk/index.php/competitions/hide.html

You may remember the competition to Win an iPad with Codex last year and we were joined by the Author Adrian Dawson helping us along.

Win an iPod Nano with a hyper-cool Lunatik Watch Strap!

Because the overriding theme of Sequence is "Time" and "Hidden Objects" we've added the coolest time and hiding based prize we could think of to our latest "win a cool gadget" competition... An iPod Nano complete with Lunatik Strap! This means that you can wear your music and, by setting the Nano to "Watch on Wake", you can "hide" it as a watch. Cool!

Starting September 5th 2011, we are running a competition called "What have WE got to hide..?" All you will have to do is follow the clues and, using the techniques outlined in Sequence, work out the location of an object we will have hidden somewhere in the world. Then, if you email that location to Last Passage (and are correct) your name will be entered into the draw, Just like last year's "Win an iPad" competition, your name will be placed into a hat - a real hat - and if your name is drawn out YOU WIN!

PLUS, four more names will be drawn out, each of which (along with the winner) will win a SIGNED pre-release copy of [Sequoia] long before it is available for retail sale.

OK, so what if you're the first solve the clues, you've worked out the location and you're daft enough to actually travel there? You'll find nothing, right? Wrong. Because we :jHAVE ACTUALLY HIDDEN SOMETHING THERE. And, not only is it very cool, it's also worth good money :j(we'll tell you how much closer the time)!! Seriously, if you get there before anyone else and your location is correct it will be waiting. Only we know where it is and we will never, ever, dig it up. All we ask is that you take a photo of yourself holding the item at the location which we will post online to save those not as clever as you from wasting time trekking out there.

Here's how it works...

You'll need to have read Sequence to fully understand the puzzle, but PART ONE should give you the name of four towns and PART TWO should give you the name of a very famous painting. Where on that painting you need to look (read Sequence to see what we mean) will be found in PART THREE. Put all three elements together and you will get one clear location, somewhere in the world (it's a building, by the way).

Finally, email that location to hello@lastpassage.com using the Subject "What Have You Got To Hide..?"and you will entered into the draw for the iPod Nano and Lunatik Strap. TRAVEL to that location and you will find ANOTHER very cool item actually buried there. How cool is that...?

So... are you ready?

The competition will open on 5th September 2011.

Check back here for your clues.

The competition will close on 31st March 2012.

Show us... What have WE got to hide...?

Good Luck

I know its not English but they say that you can go and dig the prize up so didnt think they would put it anywhere abroad.

Searching the phrase "Happy Men of Duchy" or just "Duchy" on Google brings up info about about, John of Gaunt, 1st Duke of Lancaster, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_of_Gaunt,_1st_Duke_of_Lancaster, according to the Wikipedia article Hungerford has ancient links to the Duchy, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungerford, although the place could be in Lancaster! But I think it could be Hungerford.

1/ Don't be fooled - this is an international competition.

2/ Like our last competition (the Codex/iPad monkey), you really will need to read "Sequence" to solve this one. I know that means that some of you won't enter because you have no desire to read my novel and I'm cool with that...

    :-(

    ;-)

...but for those that do want to read it and enter, it's simply an extra buzz from the novel and the prizes are pretty good.

Read Sequence. A) It will help immensely, and B) It's so darned good that SciFiNow made it their lead review in the latest issue and sang its praises far better than I ever could.

I'll keep in touch if it gets too tricky.

At the beginning of October, to give the paperback time to do some business. As there is a reasonable timeframe for entering and no first come first served on the iPad Nano/Lunatik prize, you should be OK.

For those who actually want to travel to...

    (nearly gave it away)

...time is of the essence, however!
