I am SO angry right now!

Why do people never read the terms and conditions, only moan when they get charged for breaking them?0

Why does it take 4 days to clear???? the payment details on the back of the statement doesn't say that "oh by the way it's gonna take 4 days for cash to clear!" I even went into my branch and asked them - they also agreed that it does not specify that CASH takes 4 days! I've paid cash several times before a day or two before and never had a late payment fee. I don't go to Tesco and buy my groceries with cash and say sorry I will pay you tomorrow nor does it take 4 days to clear cash taken out of my account!!
Never ever defaulted or paid late!!!!:mad:0 -

I have just checked online banking for balances of accounts and I too have been charged a late payment fee!!! I paid my normal payment in CASH for my previous statement by the due date and then later in the month paid another CASH payment which I presume would be off the following months statement. I went to my local Natwest branch on the 10th Jan paid another CASH payment for this months bill (which clears my debt to them) and today seen a late payment charge for £12!! As there is no waiting for clearence on cash I thought that this was ok the due date by the way was 11th Jan. They debit cash drawn from my accounts and my money on the same day so why are their payments taking so long?? the debit late fee was applied to card account on the 11th aswell!! Cheeky !!!!!!s so I will be down to my local branch to sort this this afternoon!!

DON'T GO TO YOUR BRANCH RING UP/WRITE A LETTER AND COMPLAIN
I work for them as a cashier, it is NOT our fault, it is card services (read my rants above) it takes 3-4 working days for cash paid into a branch to reach card services, fair enough it does take that long for the money to get to them but they should backdate it from the time of deposit, but they don't.
The charges are unlawful, reclaim them, they do give in if you complain enough, they refunded mine after I made a mistake (transactions didn't show online for 6 days and I forgot about something I'd bought and went over my limit) I worked for them when I reclaimed the charges

Thanks for the advice Gordon the Moron - i have rung the c/c centre spoke to cust serv and await a call from senior supv/manager. I know it's not the branches problem - even the cashier at my local said it didn't make the payment terms re cash clear. That is my rant with them as CAsh is Cash instant money - simple. I awit their response and will not pay the late fee out of principal. Thanks to all who posted

Cash taking 4 days to clear? Whatever next! Cash is cleared funds!! These banks are shafting us all left, right and centre.
I'll make sure I cry them a river when their profits fall below the 100 million mark
In some Scadinavian countries, cheques are cleared on the SAME DAY, as are BACS payments. But that'll never, ever happen in this country because if there's ever an opportunity for money to be made, someone will take advantage of it. After all, if they can do BACS payments within hours and for free, they would no longer be able to charge a scandalous fee for a CHAPS bank transfer.0 -

Have to say never not received a natwest statement... are you sure it is their fault and not one with the postal service?
I had problems with not receiving statements from NatWest but put it down to the post office.0 -
I've never had problems receiving statements (even when my balance is 0 and there are no transactions they still send a blank one... why? waste of money)
The cash clearing thing is kind of understandable, the card services are seperate from the branch so it genuinely does take time for the money to get to card services from the branch BUT they should backdate it to the time it was deposited.

I had this with Nat West. 4 days for cash to 'clear' and 10 days for a cheque when they are a clearing bank. I closed my credit card acct. and recommend anyone that asks me not to do business with them.0

Sorted it finally!! A lady from Natwest CS rang and told me that they would refund the £12 late fee and any interest! Yipeee!!!! She also said that the point raised re their terms/ways of payment will be looked into. Explained that they did not state on the reverse of statement that cash would take four days and thought it was pretty p*ss poor that they do this. So I'm a happy bunny now and glad I persued the matter. Thanks to all who posted advice/responses.
