The best PAYG is definitely Giffgaff by buying a £10 goodybag each month I'd say.
TalkMobile might be worth a look as they do SIM-only for £8-a-month (300 mins, 1000 texts, 500MB data) on a six month contract, and you can £30.30 cashback for taking that at www.topcashback.co.uk/talkmobile/
Talk to Orange about those and see what they offer. Don't rush into agreeing anything until you've looked around though.[/QUOTE]
Which is always the most sound advice, as it is better for a tariff to suit the user not the user adjust their use to suit the tariff, hence outfits like GG are often far from being the best.0 -
Wierd how people buy in to a service. I've changed provider 3 times this year. Currently with icard, as I've no trips abroad for this year, and they are cheap.0

Use giffgaff, or at least use its pricing as a bargaining tool.0

If you leave Orange you'll definitely need an unlock code for your phone as it won't work on another network (unless you bought it at full SIM free price) they usually charge £25 for them, so that's worth taking into account. Definitely try using the giffgaff pricing as a bargaining tool, they might be able to offer you something similar.
I had an unlock code from Orange once and it broke my phone, so be aware of that possibility too! I would advise you're safer staying with Orange if you can get them to give you a good deal.0 -
Definitely? Many retailers (CPW, p4u, d-a-p) sell unlocked phones with contracts and PAYGIf you leave Orange you'll definitely need an unlock code for your phone as it won't work on another network (unless you bought it at full SIM free price)

I just called Orange to check, it's £20 + VAT which is £24, it's been that price for years now.
And by the sound of the original post it sounded like the contract was directly with Orange, which means it would be locked, apologies if my assumptions were wrong, just trying to help!0 -
Almost all contracts are directly with networks nowadays, even those that are bought through retailers. I checked the OP before posting and have not found any indications that the contract was bought directly from Orange.
Regarding the price see http://help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/support/personal/474187/2. This is more trustworthy source of information than incompetent telephone CS staff.0 -

Well you should notice no difrance with 02 and GiffGaff as they both use same network GiffGaff piggy backs on the 02 network except its lot cheaper and you dont get a cuustomer service number to call you use there forum.
Like most said here giffgaff does the 10 pounds month 250 mins calls and unlimted internet (reallly is unlimted)
Also if ordering sim check the referals fo giffgaff and you get extra 5 pounds credit and so do they.0 -
