Nobody will knock on your door without a court order, which they wont get as they will not be able to prove it was you.
If they do come to your door, call 999 and tell the police there is a disturbance of the peace at your home, when they arrive, ask them to eject them from your property.

Although I have never entered into one, someone has! and that is the worrying thing!

And it has my name and address on it.

    Hi
That is my point, have they got any such thng?
If there had been an agreement with your name and address on it(even a fraudulent one), and it had been defaulted you would most definitely have heard from Wonga before you heard from the DCA.
It sounds to me like the DCA is on a phishing trip working on minimal information provided from Wonga on an absconded account. The DCA may just have a name or a post code or some other scraps of info yours may have been one of many letters sent out phishing for the same account
I would ask the DCA what information was provided from Wonga made them contact you or I would ignore completely and make them prove it.

I guess it is the worry of heavies knocking on the door.

No one will knock on your door

Wonga dont employ heavies, not even on legitimate account holders, they are much clever than that, they would not risk their credit liscence by doing such a thing.

Have your checked your credit report? If identity fraud has been committed then the debt would show there, if not there is a good chance as others have said that the DCA are trying to trace a legitimate account with tiny information and your the unlucky sad their contacting.
  • Write a complaint to Wonga.com that they have set the DCA on to you for a loan that you never took out. The address is 88 Crawford Street, London, W1H 2EJ.

Get proof of posting (free from the Post Office). They must then deal with it within 8 weeks of receiving the complaint (which will be deemed to be two working days following the date of receipt).

If they fail then you can take them to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
  • I don't think I would be bothering to get a crime reference number, I'd just check my credit reference.

Just tell them it wasn't you and they will have to sort it out. If a crime has been commited its their problem, especially if there is nothing on your credit report and they have the wrong guy.

If this is the case let them get a crime number,.
  • Just thought I would let you know how it's going. STILL!

After many emails and phone calls to Wonga in September - October and November I finally got a ''it's not you from Wonga'' from their Fraud Department a few weeks ago.

It was someone with a different date of birth and living in another part of the country.

This was told to me in a matter of minutes! Why on earth it has dragged on this long is so pathetic, yet could of been dealt with this quickly.

Well, I thought it was over!

I have now been contacted again by Red Castle Recoveries Gothia Ltd.

I have contacted Wonga AGAIN to check if they got in contact with Red Castle Recoveries which they said they would. I am still waiting for confirmation.

Red Castle Recoveries have said if I don't pay they will place this on my credit file. ?????

So p----ed off with all this. It's not my problem I don't want this messing up my credit.

Any recommendations on what I can do to complain about this whole episode would be gratefully received.

This debt company should not be able to get away with this and Wonga have been incredibly slow and not professional whatsoever.

then write to them and get heavy, point out that the det is not yours as has been agreed by the creditor. remind them that your minded to start a complaint against them. send them an invoice for all your time and costs. remind them that if its not paid you will issue a county court claim against them.
  • Can they put this on my credit report then? They have my name and address but that is it!
