I would just ignore it until they start whatever they are going to do.
They will need a contract to enforce anything and if you have never entered in to one with them then that's their problem

    HI
Have you tried talking to the DCA?
If it were debt they should have some record of earlier correspondence from Wonga, they usually persue the debts themselves before transferring to a DCA.
If this were a case of identity theft you would have expected to have heard from the OC first.

They have to prove the debt...you do not..send them a prove it letter via recorded post and keep a copy of everything.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • Thanks for the advice that is coming through. No answer tonight from Wonga.

I will I think communicate only by email now as to keep a record of everything.
  • All I got from them was I needed to get a crime reference number from the police station. I went along and to cut a long story short they can't as no crime has been committed. Rung Debt Recovery again and they said that someone has made a fraudulent claim in my name so I had to report it to the police. Went back and explained to police but still they say from this letter there is no fraud/crime and Debt company need to investigate it.

I have also never received any letters from Wonga regarding this

Although I have never entered into one, someone has! and that is the worrying thing!

And it has my name and address on it.

You've done a lot in an hour!

I don't see why you are fretting. Wonga won't help as you will fail the security check. You won't know Any details of the account.

Send the prove it letter, you know, in the post via letterbox not email.

Don't waste your own time and money chasing this. Thousands deny their valid and genuine accounts in their attempts to avoid payment, you will be seen as the same.
  • What about the bank account it went into? Surely they can track this down?

then I would let "someone" worry about it.
they will have to prove you owe it and thats quite easy, they just follow the money, which will show that they have been the victim of the fraud, not you.
You are forgetting the Golden rule, it's them that have lost money, not you.
let THEM worry about how they are going to get it back.
