            Hi Mark,
I have just received a post on the TalkTalk forum that states that my original phone call on 27/9 terminating my contract because of the price rise was interpretted as accepting an offer of 3 months free line rental. This is despite the fact that I even put my termination in writing the day after!
We are only talking about £13 plus VAT here but this is a principle issue for me now.
Can you please help me in getting this issue resolved?
Kind regards, John

            Hi Connel,
I can see youve had a reply on the thread requesting more information so the call record can be retrieved.
The advice given was based on the notes from the account, you requested we listen to the call and for that we require confirmation of which number this call was made from/to.
If you confirm on the thread if this was your home number. If it wasnt you can confirm with the OCE via PM which number it was and we can investigate further.
As advised you dont need to ask me for further assistance on this issue here, the OCE will manage the issue and request any information they need via the TT Members Forum thread.
Regards
Mark

To clarify the 12 months up front payment means there will be no charge for line rental over the next 12 months. Irrespective of the cost of Line Rental during this time if you have paid the 12 months in advance you will not be charged line rental until this 12 months period is up.
In terms of currently existing contact is you take the Value line Rental offer this will be with a 12 month contract period. if you have more than 12 months in your current contract this will not affect the total term. However if this is less than 12 months the contract would be renewed for a 12 month period from the date you take the offer. Full details of this offer can be found in My Account.

Mark,
Just to get back on topic.
I have taken up TalkTalk's offer of line rental, i.e. the £114 "up front" payment (working out at £9.50/month).
I know someone who has just taken advantage of (bragging about!) Primus' "free evening and weekend calls package" of £7.99/month (a package that appears to include the line rental charge).

They have a separate ISP, so I am not sure which party is "swallowing" the BT line rental charge.
As a general question, in the case of separate call/ISP providers, where do the line rental (BT) infrastructure charges go? Do they go with the call or the ISP provider?
I understand that you may not wish to get into a debate on the relative tariffs of competitors but any links/opinion would be appreciated.

            Hi Bootsox,
In the majority of cases the Line rental is paid to the call provider. however there are cases where customers have BT line rental, Calls with a differnt provider (Carrier Preselect) and BB with a differnt ISP.
These are more often the exception to the rule with increased use of bundled packages but in the above example i would expect the Line Rental Costs would be part of/in addition to the call package.

Mark
