Vodafone report over 341 million worldwise customers, and around 10 million in the UK. The UK is actually getting to be less impostant in the coprorate eyes of Vodafone. The profit outlook is jsut a forecast, not a reporting value.

The article clearly says it's down to emerging markets, as well as thefact the actual 6 months pretax profits are down over the sam period last year but lets not let that get in the way of a little vodafone bashing.

Not just emerging markets: "Vodafone has raised its profit outlook as emerging markets and UK demand made up for losses in southern European." and yes I know it's only a forecast but the timing is possibly a bit convenient :p

Was waiting to see if I could get anywhere with the Ofcom / Ombudsman / MP route. TBH, 2 of them have been useless and I'm less than optimistic about the 3rd.

How are things going with your ombudsman complaint?

They've said that it could take up to 8 weeks for a final verdict.

TBH, I kind of wish they'd rejected my claim so I could just go to court and be done with the whole fiasco. It's going to drag on until the New Year now the Ombudsman are involved.

Utterly incensed by the treatment I've received from Vodafone.

Upon receiving the SMS notification back in September about the price plan changes I entered into an online conversation with one of their customer service reps.

I have the transcript of said conversation saved, and I was told that my monthly tariff would not change.

Well what do you know. It's go on up.

I've complained to Vodafone via Email and old fashioned letter, and on both occasions they've failed to address any of the points I've raised. Their most recent (smug) response follows:
Thank you for your email and letter, our position has not changed and the price increase will affect you. The terms of your contract allow us to increase your charges. The ombudsman is aware of the price changes and as this is a commercial decision they are unable to ask us to reduce the charges or put you back to what you were paying before. I trust this confirms our position Regards Karen Vodafone Customer Relations

Going to do all I can to deter anyone from going with Vodafone. Price plan changes, data tariff changes... there's nothing like consistency.

Write back and say that whilst the price changes are a commercial issue and therefore the ombudsman are unable to help, being lied to by customer services staff is a breach of Ofcom regulations and that IS enforceable by the ombudsman.

Ask them for an explanation of why they feel it is ok for their staff to openly mislead customers.

I've raised another complaint telling advising them that I believe they are in breach of Ofcom regulations and await their reply.

Shall give Ofcom a call to discuss further tomorrow.

    Thanks.
