Best way to report HB fraud?

Thanks, I'll leave it now anyway.0

Sometimes appearances are not what they seem though. (I'm not saying this about the OP, as they know the couple personally.)
For instance, I used to get ESA and HB. My boyfriend would visit and stay over, and his work pattern meant he'd sometimes get a good few days off, which he'd generally spend with me. To some, it may have looked as if he lived with me, but he didn't.
Is it really that easy to get away with benefit fraud? I remember having to supply bank statements and the like. I don't know how I'd have gotten away with anything untoward. Surely it's more tough now, with the austerity measures?0 -
It takes time & there are many false reports from people who have fallen out or don't know all the facts.A lot of people wish to know the outcomes of crimes,if they didn't we wouldn't have reports on them in papers would we.Many are more interested in the outcome if they know the people or the case. That doesn't mean they must be bitter.People want to know things are dealt with.0 -

This is true. The OP only reported a couple of weeks ago and has been watching for something happening, and because it hasn't has come on here to ask if they should ring it in ( hoping it will be dealt with faster.)
It can take many months for the DWP to put their evidence together. People need to understand when they report someone that nothing will happen for a good while.
This is because the majority of reports are inaccurate, done for vendetta, done out of jealousy etc and are exaggerated. Think of the chaos if the DWP acted within a week of everyone reporting, stopping their money based on a call they have received
Benefit fraud is wrong but a lot more transparent than tax fraud, which is why tax fraud costs this country billions upon billions. Imagine if I rang up and reported everyone I know for tax fraud and expected a result after a couple of weeks
They will watch, gather evidence, and if they can't find enough evidence
they will then decide whether to pursue or not. So don't hold your breath, nothing may be done at all, and if it is, it could take months.
Don't be fooled about the "anonymous" either, they can find you if they want to, and certainly your IP is recorded.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
I have reported my neighbour 4 times re her disability car. She manages to walk up the street fine, wash the car, climb step ladders to wash the house windows.
So by going with the requirments she appears not to meet them.
Se can put on the limp when required, in fact she is known locally for it! She might have issues with her legs and gets all the Doc reports. But in reality she does not fit the criteria.- because of a physical disability, you are unable or virtually unable to walk without severe discomfort, or at risk of endangering your life or causing deterioration in your health by making the effort to walk
- you have no feet or legs
I get annoyed with people like my neighbours. Being on the sick for many years on Income Support/DLA comes with stigma, lazy ..... etc. I see myself a fit young guy, but my mind can create major issues. Hence why I see many Doctors.
Frustates me to the core of wanting to work, but can't! Yet people take it for a joy ride, God I was wanting my DLA reduced as was uncomfy the amount I get! ALL my family work in very well paid jobs and even my brother of 16 works. I was brought up to work and did till illness struck, but these people whom take the !!!! out the system drag people like me down.
Sorry for the rant, but good to get it off the chest.0 -
Hi
A couple of weeks ago I reported someone for Housing Benefit fraud, she lives in a private rented house and has been (for the last few months) claiming housing benefit not declaring her BFs income and saying he doesn't live there.
I reported her using the online form, but im wondering if I should've rung instead, or do I contact the local council responsible for her claim?
Because of confidentiality rules between a benefit department and a claimant, the chances are that you won't be contacted unless they require you to give any sort of evidence, which is unlikely, as they can probably prove/disprove your report without any help.
You won't be given any feedback as to what happened.
If they decide to investigate, and if they decide she has overclaimed, then she will have to pay back any overpayment.
If you have your facts wrong, then obviously no action will be taken against her, and a note will just be made on her file as to the report, who made it (if known) and that is was seen to be unfounded.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

I don't think the OP will be informed of what happens to the fraudster. But they will definitely be investigated.
I too would report somebody if I knew (not just guessed or assumed) that they were committing Benefit fraud.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

nothing happened. Still 6 months down the line the same. I speak to him on a daily basis, freely open to me. I think because he knows I get IS/DLA that I would be fine!

They will have watched your neighbour for a few months. If they have not seen her walk up and down the street ( although this would not exclude her from DLA, because it can be the act of walking causes discomfort AFTER the event), if they have not seen her wash her car or climb ladders, then no action will be taken.
When you then report the same again, a further three times, it is likely to be ignored as it will be on file that it was investigated and no action taken/ claims unfounded.
Same with JSA and working. You can work and claim JSA it is not against the law. If he has provided his wageslips etc and he is still entitled to JSA no action will be taken.Frustates me to the core of wanting to work, but can't! I wholeheartedly agree, but ensure your facts are correct and not based on assumption when repirting someone Did you manage to get your DLA reduced?“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

A lot of people can walk but are entitled to high rate mobility and therefore a mobility car,so it could well be that she is entitledIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Is this true? My IP changes every time I unplug the router (I think). The last time I checked my IP, I was apparently in Saudi Arabia and not in damp and grey North West of England. Would be interested to hear if I can actually be tracked by my IP.0
