    Morning everyone

I brought a 6.5lt morphy richards slow cooker last week and this is the 1st time I'm using it

I am doing a roast dinner today and wanted to cook the chicken in the SC after reading how nice and tender the meat goes when its cooked in the SC..
Well i washed the chicken out..
put frozen veggies on the bottom of the SC and put the chicken on top of them...
then poured some hot water over the the veg, just enough to barely cover them..
    Is that ok?
Have i muffed up big time and the whole thing is gonna explode around the kitchen?
Just a bit worried incase i forgot to do something or have done something totally wrong.. :o:o
Any advice from any early birds please? (begs)

Hiya roast chicken slow cooker style here today too.
I just put the chicken in with no water and put a few mixed herbs on top.
Then with about 30 minutes before serving but the stuffing in around the chicken.
It soaks up all the juice and makes as my kids call it `soggy stuffing` which is theirs and our favourite, i am always get asked if there is extra stuffing.
    Enjoy.

    Hi Katie,

Don't know if/how this will help now but I normally do the above but put some bacon and mushrooms in as well as the above ingredients..
If you have some, I suppose you could fry off some bacon and put that in also, depends on what you have/like.

Sorry I can't be any more help than that - am sure someone will have a better idea soon!

  • How about crumbling a chicken oxo cube in, or add a few drops of worcester sauce to make it a wee bit spicy.

  • Got any herbs or some balsamic vinegar?
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!
  • I forgot to put the chicken in earlier and only remember shortly before 3, but we need it for dinner which is usually about 6ish. I have it on high so how long do i cook it for?

I am not convinced you can slow cook a whole chicken in 2 hours! Is it frozen? I'd stick it in the oven on this occasion :)

Edit: sorry just re-read and realised you have it in now - I'd leave it on high for as long as possible and keep checking it - maybe someone with a bit more SC experience can help!
  • Thanks, I think i am going 2 leave it in there for another hour or so and then transfer it to the oven.
