I was just passing on what i was told, before i started my new last week i had 7 interviews for retail jobs despite applying for many more since i was made redundant end of march. Despite the experience i only had 7 interviews so i understand what you mean.
  • Does anybody have an advice on whether it is best to apply online for these positions or hand in a CV in store?

Does anybody have an advice on whether it is best to apply online for these positions or hand in a CV in store?

I tend to check their website first in case there is an application process (for example Debenhams do that) or there may be an application form to print off and hand in/post to them.

HTH, best of luck to you
  • Thanks, I've done a couple of online applications, but am now working on my CV so I can wander round town on Monday handing it out to stores.

Does anybody have any advice on doing a CV for xmas jobs? I've got plenty of experience in retail (have held xmas jobs in Boots and Au Naturale plus worked for 1.5 years in Debenhams), but I've been doing administrative positions (although still involved working with customers over the phone) for the past few years. My last retail position was 3 years ago, and I've been mainly working with customers over the phone since then in the public/ charity sectors.
I'm on a zero hours contract at the moment in a call centre, and just looking for something to supplement my income for the next few months, although would be interested in a permanent position if I enjoyed the role. Should I put this in my personal profile?
