That gave me a chuckle!:rotfl::Tlittlestar1981 wrote: »Job Centre near me has the following roles going... Grotto Assistant, Elf and Santa Claus! Seems really odd when you see it on their website!
Oh... even better... a wobbly bobber!!!0 -
I noticed Vue Cinemas advertising online a Xmas post today at Leeds (Kirkstall)!so other branches may be starting to advertise soon also.
After a busy start it seems to have gone a little quiet for the Xmas jobs. I'm holding out still for my dream job with books!:;) (Waterstones/ WHSmiths- I'm waiting!!!!):D0 -
Keep checking the M&S website, I did and some vacancies appeared in my local store, they seem to appear and disappear just as quick.0

Disenchanted, I can certainly share empathy with you here, as I too have been rejected a few times by the Boots online personality test. These tests are an absolute PAIN, and should be scrapped.Disenchanted wrote: »Boots is definitely one to look into, I've applied for 3 of their xmas temp roles in my local area, keep getting rejected but I'm determined! :P0

Good for you to keep persevering.
I have been knocked back twice by Argos, and that's made me really despondent....just what do you have to do to get just a temp job at these places ?!!!0 -
I can certainly empathise with you here, as I too have had rejection after depressing rejection from these stores.
The problem is, they can pick and choose from the thousands that apply to them. It is an employer's paradise now. Worse luck for us poor unemployed!Good for you to keep persevering.

well keep on trying, trying and trying. You applied for any other xmas jobs. they can pick and choose but if you put across your qualitites better than everyone else then you stand a good chnace of a job.0 -

I'm not so sure from my own experiences ...
I have often heard it said 'if your face fits' or 'it's not what you know but who you know'
I have certainly seen that first hand...the Argos jobs; both times have taken on young & inexperienced people (presumably so they can pay them less) and also a few of those in on the group interview were friends with current employees.
I have applied for over 90 jobs and only had 4 interviews, all of which I try really hard, do my research, dress smart, arrive early and come across friendly and enthusiastic, but that is still not enough. It's so hard to secure a job these days, I feel like I am on the jobless shelf and I am only in my thirties !
As previously said employers have rich pickings.0 -

Yes that is also said (experience wanted) on every job I have been interviewed for but for the retail ones when I have checked after, they have taken on uni/college students instead (cheap labour me thinks!)0
