I personally prefer LCD over plasma as I find the picture to be more 'sharp' and not as 'florescent' (if I can call it that) and more natural picture (even when excessively changing the settings), as for colour every TV is different you just have to go look.

and that goes for TV is general you may go to the shop and go whoahh plasma is awesome or you might hate it.

I can't say I've ever noticed the juddering of titles though my LCD TV is 200Hz so doesn't really happen although to be honest I cant say I spend my time watching credits and titles :p

having a quick look on currys I'd prob get something like this or this
    Thanks for that, very interesting.
How come the full recomended retail is almost double for one but the TV's are almost identical in what they are/do?

No answer, buy what you like, 32" and under almost all LCD, over 32" nearly all Plasma..............if LCD waa "Better", their wouldnt be any Plasma, would their. Another great idea, Google LCD v Plasma, and get hundreds of views with no definitive answer.

Plasma tv's have very reflective screens , no go for me.

We simply have a very up-to-date plasma with a few settings for diferent conditions!! Yes, the screen is reflective, but we do not normally notice that when the TV is on. We change the settings if the picture is wrong for the conditions we are watching it in and it is easier to watch than our old CRT. And I like that we can clean fingerprints off the screen, simply using a damp microfibre cloth, without being worried about it (curious grandson!!). We have not yet regretted getting the plasma.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

grizzly1911 - Glare - this is a common thing, plasmas glass, and glossy, and will reflect stuff. LCDs are often matte, plenty are now glossy. If they're matte, you'll just get a big white blob instead of a reflection. I don't understand how that's better?
LED uses less power than traditionally backlit LCDs. They also use less than Plasma. I would NOT cound plasma screens as having a 'heavy drain'.
Dave101t - you're spouting crap. What are YOUR brightness settings?! Yes, I watch my plasma in a bright room plenty of the time.
And yes, LCD goes way beyond 40 inch.
Empty pockets - don't read into contrast ratios. There's no standard way to measure it, and manufacturers use all sorts of different ways, it's a waste of time comparing these numbers. Modern LCD screens probably go brighter than plasmas. But a TV is for displaying a picture realistically, not lighting up a room.
chris1973 - I'll bet those consumption figures are old, you didn't say what models or size they were, and they'll be for MAXIMUM consumption. Plasma's consumption changes a lot depending on what it's showing. Black uses least, White uses most. LCD screens use mostly the same no matter what the picture.
roddydogs - 32 inch plasma? Haven't seen one of those for a while. Not sure they even make them in 37 inch anymore...

I know I might be slightly biased because I've got a plasma TV, but I chose it after researching with an open mind (and also have an older LCD). Not just repeating the same old cliches...

What annoys me about so-called LED TVs (see earlier post) is that they charge a premium but they have less parts and are cheaper to produce than a conventional LCD TV with CFL backlight.
    Its called profiteering, I suppose.
