Direct Auto Finance/Yes Car Credit

Hi All,
I apologise if there is a recent thread on this already (I did search but with no luck), but I have just recently realised that I could claim for the mis-sold GAP insurance and mechanical breakdown insurance on agreement I had with the above from 2003.
I have only yesterday sent my initial letter off to Direct Auto Finance and included my original car finance agreement, a table of paymenst/costs that I made for the insurances and the FOS questionnaire.
I just wondered if anyone has had any luck with claiming back from this company and how long it took? I've googled around and from what I can see DAF seem to be one of the least likely to settle the claim - is this true?
Thanks for any help!

Hi All,
So it seems that I have to try to claim my GAP and mechanical breakdown insurance through the insurers - is this correct?? I sent a letter to Direct Auto in Sheffield and it was returned to me, so I have just sent a letter to the Horsham office.
In the letter I have said that I am only claiming back the mis-sold insurances plus the 8% interest but no late payment fees (which would add up to a good few hundred pounds!) if they paid me what they owe. It's worth a try...
Though after many hours spent googling anything relating to claiming back mis-sold insurances and PPI from these cowboys, it seems that I cannot find one single case where someone has won their money back - wothout having to take them to court. It also seems that I have to try to get my money back from the insurers - NIG Skandia - do I just send them the same letter that I sent Direct Auto requesting the money back? Has anyone done this with any luck?

Hi, How did you find out that NIG Skandia were the insurers of DAF?
I'm in a simular situation to you, sent a letter off to Horsham.. looked everywhere but no joy it seems anywhere on the t'internet!0 -
Hi - I looked in teh T's and C's of my contract with them... I also called the FOS/FSCS and they advised to write to them at the Springfield House address (from the FSA website) and if no joy, then to call the cizitens advice bureaux...0

Hi I had the expected no way hose from Yes Car credit/Direct Auto Finance so asked for and received a copy of the T&C's. Apart from the bits I signed being illegible I found the underwriters as being The National Insurance Group of the GAP insurance (you know until I looked I never realised I had it) and two companies listed under customer care as Advent Administration Solutions and Criterion Life Assurance Limited.
So what next. They both are listed as being regulated by the FOS. So do I write tot hem with my complaint or ask the FOS to chase these companies?

I received a final response from NIG (who are part of RBS), who told me that they're not responsible, DAF/YCC, Advent and Criterion all are. They said that they only had a small part of responibility, and gave me all the addresses of the other companies. Thing is, NIG is the company on my paperwork, they have admitted (part) responibility so, FOS has my claim, as they were/are regulated and YCC/DAF weren't.
Who Knows where we stand, although i'm sure we have a better chance with these than YCC/DAF, as it's a major banking group. FOS advises that if the company weren't regulated, take the underwriter route.0 -
Letter sent to the companies today so see what happens and will post on here as it seems I am very much not alone.0

Hi with regard to my chasing yes car credit. I have written to the two companies listed as under writers and Criterion Life Assurance Ltd has been returned as moved away (Address in Petersfield Hants). A quick search and I have found that Reliance Mutual may now be the owner of the company. I have sent them an e-mail asking if this so and will post my results on here and the Yes Car Credit forum.0

Hi, I have been reading your posts about Yes Car Credit/Direct Auto Finance, and my wife and I are going to pursue PPI, so will post each step of our process as it happens. Thanks for those who have posted so far, as it gives us hope we may get our PPI too. I already successfully claimed about 5 bank/credit card charges 4 years ago and hope to do the same with the PPI's,
