Ha ha ha ha ha Tesco want £3,100 to insure me!

Tesco is not a good quality option. For example, they wont transfer the policy to a new vehicle if you suffer a total loss.

Good to know, but I can think of a few other reasons why they aren't a good option. :/

fordy, out of interest, have you checked comparison sites for what the premium would be on the Subaru if you still had it? Might give you at least some peace of mind that your old car would be astronomical by now compared, even, to the leap that you had last time?

Nope, but I doubt it would help.

So, is everyone else facing 100% rises or is it just me and the people of Liverpool?

My last renewal went up £5.

It is only high risk people/locations that are suffering big increases. Low risk are getting much lower increases or even decreases.

I would like an honest assessment of the risk, I doubt that is possible though.
  • I just switched, and got my renewal down from £265 to £210 for the year and even added vehicle recovery. I have a 1.2 Renault Clio and to be fair the car is probably only worth about £400 now :o

It's a real shame you don't have any middle-aged women drivers in your family with full no-claims. My 36 year old brother put myself and our mum on his quote as named drivers and it went down by over a third immediately.

Last yr mine was £360, just had my renewal for £400. Nothing has changed for me - same car, same house etc.
    With Zurich.

I looked on comparison sites. There were a few coming in about £50-60 less, but they were firms I've never heard of and I have to wonder how much effort they would be for a claim if I ever needed one. Plus I havent checked all the fine detail to see if the policy is v similar to Zurich.

  • Some companies now are actually cheaper to insure your car 'on the road' than 'on the drive'

crazy i know... however they see it as, if its parked on the street it could be anyones if its on the drive, theifs are more likley to break in the house for the keys.... apparently !

Mine went from £330 to £380. I was annoyed enough about that much. Im with Direct Line.

When I put my details in price comparison websites the cheapest coming up were around £460. I tried LV which has bene suggested on this site, they wanted 600 and something!! So stayed with direct line.
