Nice one, iheartbristol.
I didn't want to say this beforehand, but last time we moved we were told not to complete on a Friday as if something went wrong (e.g. someone's mortgage didn't turn up on time) then it would be Monday before anything could happen. Our vendor's solicitor was about as helpful as yours sounded. But in both cases there were no problems in the end.
Enjoy the new place.
(And thanks for the update on moving day!)0 -
Thanks Jimmy. We tried not to get a Friday completion but the two other parties in the chain shouted louder than we did for it to happen today - Friday completions seem terribly popular!Trying to remain free of unsecured debt and build up some savings.
Have done CeFA and CeMAP exams but no longer regulated.0 -
haven't had chance to read all the way through the threads but I thought it was the responsibility of the purchaser or their solicitor to do a "search" on the house they were buying which would include any planning applications that might be in place or have been in place in the recent past. has this changed?0

Congratulations on completing!
Totally think you made the right decision. We live on a nice street (at the moment...MOVING DAY TOMORROW!!!!!) of houses built in the early 1900s and the large house opposite ours has been converted into a few (don't know how many, maybe three) flats. Doesn't make a blind bit of difference...If anything, we get more noise/bother from the family homes with kids rather than the young professional people in the flats.0
