Morning everyone,
I am up late this morning as I was worn out by my day out yesterday.
We had a brilliant day at Skegness, the sun shone, the trains were on time and DD1 and DD2 and their friends were a delight to be with.
We did the pleasure beach, penny (well 2p) falls, swam in the sea, sunbathed and had chips on the beach. It was a proper sea side day out.:D
Today however is a lot more ordinary. I will be washing, tidying, cooking and food shopping. I will get to have a cup of tea with my best friend when she wakes up after her night shift.
Hugs to Lou Redruby Butterfly and anyone else that needs them.
Glad that you are feeling brighter NPM.
Tea tonight is HM pizza.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
Going to be running around like a daft thing today. Have to pick up both kids from seperate schools at lunchtime, take DS to next town to a rugby coaching course (they'll have a picnic lunch in the car) come back, get DD packed up for Cub Camp, go back to pick up DS, come home, feed them, get back in car, take DD to camp, come home, start catering for DS's four pals who are here for a birthday sleepover. Oh and in the morning I have to tidy the house, ice the birthday cake and go shopping.
Still on the plus side the sleepover is what DS wanted as a birthday treat and is saving me a small fortune. All I need to provide is cake, pizza, a few small munchie things I got from Tesco at B1G2F, popcorn and a case of J2O, which is one heck of a lot cheaper than cinema and Pizza Hut for five lads. He's also being very reasonable as to birthday pressies. There are three trips coming up next year...the rugby tour in the Netherlands, Scout trip ditto and the real killer, ten days in New York with the school. In total they come to £1500 without adding in new clothes or spending money. We're all in favour of this sort of trip but that's the entire family holiday budget for a year, really, so he can't expect to get them plus all sorts of expensive presents. He's going to raise his own spending money by doing odd jobs for the neighbours (he does this a lot anyway) and he's not much of a lad for clothes anyway but still...£1500, argh. That's the Family Allowance for most of the year gone.
Do you think I'm mad? He's a good lad, works hard, en route to nine grade 1 & 2 standard Grades, does his chores and such around the house without moaning (too much) and is a good natured, enthusiastic, sporty sort of boy who everyone likes. And he's perfectly willing to put in a bit of effort to help get what he wants. I really do think he deserves his trips. But still, it's money that's got to be found elsewhere. I don't mind not going on holiday next year, DD will have three (local, very cheap!) Scout camps of her own, Hubby will be abroad four times on work related trips next year and always manages to tack an extra couple of days sightseeing on the end so he's hardly deprived of holidays either. But still..it's one heck of a lot for just one member of the family!!!!Val.0 -
9.20 and my tiler is here and cracking on (no pun intended!) Boys are on the Wii, washing machine on and am just about to go and raid the freezer for things to tonights dinner. Yesterday I sorted through 15 black bin bags of things from MILs house - the clothes will go to the charity shop, towels have gone to Dogs Trust (and I didn't come away with a dog - can't believe that!) and the unsellable items are going to a lady who does extreme knitting. All the rest will come with me to a car boot later in the month.
Am getting used to the fact that this is likely to be our home for a long time (OH used to be in the army!) so am getting rid of things that we used to keep just in case! Its weird to do this but feels good to be lighter!
Will put BM on in a bit and cook some cakes for the children - last day of school hols and I've no snacky bits left for them - this will cause problems so I'm off to bake today. Hugs to those in need - specially Lou, NPM and Redruby and butterfly xxxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Need to go to supermarket, but seriously CBA, and have arranged to meet DS when he finishes college to get some new trousers. Will also spend some time with mum as she's off to New Jersey tomorrow for 3 weeks to see my brother.
Better get plastered in Vick and get on, have a good day all!RIP Iain

Good Morning Everyone
Haven't posted here for absolutely ages and haven't been keeping up either
Life has been so hectic what with the school holidays, awaiting GSCE results, sorting out colleges etc etc the last few weeks have flown by.
But Im back and ready to get back on the MSE, OS bandwagon. Everything has been slipping lately, menu planning, housework budget..........the list goes on :rotfl:
Anyway now that summer (hmmn not what I call summer but never mind) is ending and my favourite season is here I am ready to get back organised.
Today I have done the essential office work and now and tackling a little of the housework, today shall mainly be a washing day as the weather is so lovely.
DD has decided not to stay on at 6th form and do a levels but has chosen an IT course at college. Because of where we live, she will need to catch a bus then the train to get there so today we will be sorting out all her travel arrangements. Its more expensive for us but I think it will be a good thing for her and help her be more independent.
Scampi is for dinner as they have it on special at our local shop.
Wow already feel more organised than I have for the last 6 weeks!
Hope everyone is ok, (((hugs))) wherever needed.x0 -
Morning All
Thanks for your good wishes NPM, Redruby and Moorhen:A :A:Ax x x
I have been up to the cemetery already (10 minutes on the scooter from here) and put some flowers on Mum and Dad's grave and had a quiet chat with them.
I am going to try to keep as busy as I can today so it keeps my mind off things, it is strange that my Dad died on the 2nd of a month and so did my Mum.
I need to take some books back to the library and DS has his enrolment at college . He does his induction week from Monday.
Nice to see you back Essexgirl x
Julie positive vibes for your DD x
Well I am off to get some bits done have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good morning all and big hugs to those going through difficult times
No work for me today :j so I'm already feeling more human than I have all week. Lots to do at home though - three days back at work and somehow the house becomes a complete tip. So I am a woman on a mission today (or I will be when I finish my coffee!). WM and BM are already on.
I've promised the DDs a trip to the park this afternoon if they behave themselves and let me get on... so far, so good.
The garage have just phoned to say that DH's car doesn't need a new alternator (phew!) but the brakes and battery will come to just under £250  - it's about what I thought, but will make a big hole in the September budget - some serious belt tightening needed this monthas we've worked hard to pay back our overdraft and I really don't want to slip into the red again.
Dinner tonight will be pork chops (whoopsied from Mr T and frozen a few weeks ago) with savoury rice and grilled peppers. Pud will be fruit and yogurt.
Have good days all - better go and get my marigolds on!
