  • Hey everyone,

I was wondering if you guys could help, i'm going to try and make a malteaser tree and was wondering how i could stick it to the oasis ball. I've read some say melted chocolate, any ideas how to do this?
    Will really appreacite your help.

Ps all your pics look great!! :D
  • First attempt at a sweetie after seeing loads of lovely ones, plant pot Ikea,£2.29 stem (6 wooden b.bque sticks banded with ribbon me thinks this might be cheaper than wooden dowels ?) it took about 4 bags of eclairs from cheap shop ie home bargains or similar 89p-£1 otherwise £1.89 from co-op what a difference! dowels were embedded in plaster (1 tub £4 used half) from craft shop think this might be cheaper from diy must look!! topped with tissue paper and a few flowers/feathers in between chocs hope this of some help seeing as it's my first time !!

try using edible glue or royal icing this is harder than fondant icing or cocktail sticks (haven't tried it yet though) still experimenting good luck!
  • Hi All

Lots of lovely looking trees on here, but no-one seems to be giving a straight answer to a question that's been asked many times.....

If you're using sweets with no wrappers, is there a way of attaching to the tree without using cocktail sticks or chocolate as glue.

If so, what do you cover the ball with, as it wouldn't look that good once the sweets have been removed if it's just foam underneath.

Any info would be appreciated :j

    Many Thanks

Think a few have said they use royal icing, or melted choc for things like malteasers, glue gun for wrapped sweets, personally i use cocktail sticks, find it much more secure, never known fruit kebabs or sausages on sticks to be dangerous! obviously if you were making it it for somebody who really doesn't want you to use cocktail stick you could try the other options. I cover the ball with foil, some use tissue hth
  • Hi guys

I used to be n here quite a but since having to move back home I have been unable to craft :( however before I did I made these :D

They were pretty easy to make one I have figured it out lol. I used ceramic pots and then some plumbing tubing (wrapped with some florists green tape its stretchy and clinging, cant remeber what its called) and stick it to the bottom of the pots (so the posts could be used again) then used sphere oasis covered in cling film and then did the cocktail sticks pushed into the choccies, the flowers between were just to fill in the the gaps as I was on a budget :) I then bought some clear mints and filled the pot to make it look like pebbles. I loved making these

  • Hi, Has anyone made a sweetie tree using a glass vase so you can put in different coloured sweets in layers? I have seen these done but don't know how to do them! How do you get the tree to stay put and not topple over? Is it the weight of the sweets that weigh it down or should I be putting something inside the bottom of it and then covering with sweets? Thanks!
