Been in H*ll St St3phens today, looking at laptops/netbooks. They said they have some at cheap prices, but have been taken off sale as they think it is a glitch not the correct prices. They are currently waiting in the stockroom. If they do get permission to sell them, they will then be raffling them off between the staff, any left over will be returned to the sales floor. So, nobody but the staff getting any bargains there. One of the reasons they said is that people are grabbing armfuls of stock, and telling them its for ebay, and "its' not Tescos way". So those people are actually ruining it for others.
I don't actually resent the staff getting a bargain, but I do resent that the managers are not even giving customers a chance with them. They said they have £44 and £99 ones in stock.

I went to the same store this morning to check laptops but no luck either. Actually I think I caught part of your conversation with the tech guys as I was looking at computers. But I didn't know if you were a friend of Martin so I didn't say anything.

I might go back and check this week. I'll keep you posted if I find anything. But I think at that price there is little chance they will hit the shop floor.

Have you had any luck with any other electrical items? I haven't found much myself, just a cheap Sony Ipod dock which was ex display. But nothing else otherwise.
  • We managed to get a Kenwood foor processor In Cr@dley He@th today for £9 think there were still in the shelves, ironically we was just buying one cos my OH wanted one checked the receipt in the car and saw the price. Then I thought I check this website , so really chuffed he chose that model.

Got a Toshiba Laptop, not the same model as previously posted it was model L670D-146, for £44.97. Took some getting though. Had to ask the assistants 3 times if they had any, then gently insist they scan all they had out the back. 3rd one was 44 quid, whilst doing this I asked another assistant if they had any ereaders. He had one in his hand, he said only this one, scanned it, when it came up at £20, said but she's buying it, indicating a colleague! I said I ddn't think you could buy things when on shift but he said well she is!
Went to checkout and casually asked if staff could buy things when working, She said definately not! She called her supervisor who promptly fetched it from the electrical desk for me to buy! Result! Have wanted a kindle for ages, but this will do nicely!! Thanks to all posters!!

man thats harsh they probably was having it put by to buy on their break, but your greedy !!!! didnt feel getting a laptop most people are still trying to find good enough, you really need to go see if tesco have a set of morals for sale as well

I think this merits a phone call to head office first thing in the morning - if the staff are even telling customers this, that's appalling. If you do, please let us know what they say.
    Hope is not a strategy.
  • Have Tesco staff grabbed your bargains?

Why not let the CEO know about it, they should offer some compensation.

Here is the email I used : 'philip.clarke@uk.tesco.com'
(Actually the CEO will probably not read it, I think it goes to some special customer service people.)

Are customers only good to pay fat prices, missing on bargains because of staff who abuse company policy?

Got the Sony x50 ipod speakers for £29 today. Thanks to those who mentioned them. The SEL said £29 too, so I was surprised to find one still in stock (S0lihull).
Edit: By the way, just plugged these in and they are amazing - really delighted. They also charge 3rd and 4th generation ipod touch (does not mention this on the box so I am even more pleased)

Was this the big extra store please? Thanks for replying.

You do know that staff are customers too, and are also on a paltry wage? You sound like a nasty piece of work and I just hope you never got that member of staff the sack! Horrid behaviour.

    Well said.
Greedy vultures the lot of them.
