So Apple has *KNOWN* there is a product out there that has prior claim to the iPhone name for over *FIVE* years (i.e. before they started work on their iPhone). Regardless of who you believe to have "rights" to the name, by entering negotiations they have tacitly admitted that they are in the wrong, yet they still go ahead and launch with that name. Can anyone say Bully?- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0 -
After reviewing all the specs on the Apple website, I think the iPhone is a lot more than just a phone. It performs a lot of the same functions more or less as a Palm Treo 750 which retails for around $649.00 and the Blackberry 8700c costing
$400.00.
I think Apple could have put a more expensive camera in it, but then it might be costing them out of the competition and do they really need that anyways? The key is to satisfy the needs of their target market?
It's not a product for teenagers who want to text their friends with one hand or send photo's of each other on skate boards, or download "sweetie chick" or fifty thousand annoying ring tones to annoy people in a movie theatre, it's a product for executives probably between 30 - 50 who want to merge information and emails with their office colleagues on a sales meeting or vacation.
Like the Blackberry, it receives emails and photo's to allow an executive at a trade show to take a picture of his booth and email it to his boss or office. Since it uses the OSX system, it links beautifully with all Apple programs, and uses Apple Apps like "Widgets" to check the stock market, financial markets, global news, weather reports for boating and golfing.
On the Apple demonstration, the computer shows you how a person in San Francisco can use Google Maps to find all the Starbucks coffee shops and then call the Starbucks to get information....that's great!
I believe San Francicso now has WiFi over the city, through a joint venture with Google and EarthLink. So I am assuming that the iPhone will link to all this information via WiFi, and allow internet access too.

In the end this is about business and business is about $$$/£££. Lawsuits are just a tool of modern business.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0
