Not really unless you have some advice. He is having trouble with his landlady. He was on longterm sick for a few month and had to reduce his hours. He's fallen behind with his rent and has tried organising a way with his landlady to pay it back bit by bit. She isn't happy with this - she wants all the money and she wants it now!
He has no family that will be able to help him and a friend has lent me £100 to give to him. Thing is I'm going to be getting £162 expenses back each week from next week so I could easily pay the rest for him - £100 each Friday for 2 weeks. I don't think she's going to go for this but she doesn't seem willing to sit and listen to him. She's basically telling him she'll be kickin him out if he doesn't pay soon.
He's hit a low point and while I'm getting debt free he needs to stay there until I can afford to move out and into a place just me and him.DEBT TOTAL: £7609.440 -
I did some maths the other day and what I worked out really interested me:
I earn approx £900 per month. When I'm not supporting my other half I have approx £400 spare each month - this is after I have taken out regular DDs and £25 per week budget etc.
If I use that £400 per month on my debts I can be debt free in 13 months. I can reduce this time though because from next Friday (23rd) I'll be getting £162 per week travel expenses (approx). This totals to an extra £648 per month until January. Thats £324 into a car fund and £324 to the debts. That way I build up a fund for MOT Tax and anything that goes wrong and I'm putting £724 per month towards debt meaning I can be debt free in 11 months. So that will be just before my 26th birthday!
So that is my new mission in life. To be debt free before 26! I'm going to write my budget for next month of what I need to pay out and that way will see how much I will be reducing my debt by on 23rd Sept. The following week will be £162 to go in the bank. The week after will be for debts etc and thats my new action plan
So here's to being debt free by 26! Just gotta hope I can do it...DEBT TOTAL: £7609.440 -
Ok so I don't need to worry about the other half anymore. He spoke to his landlady today and she's going to accept the amount that my friend lent me for him and then he can increase his rent payments each month to clear off the outstanding amount.
So that's one less worry for me. I'm going to create a spreadsheet with the dates I get paid and the amount I pay off each month so that I can keep track of my debts going down and work out where I can increase payments when other debts are cleared.
I've also increased my OnePoll amount by 10p lol!DEBT TOTAL: £7609.440 -
I've also updated my debt total in my sig to include the amount that my friend lent me for my OH.. I'll pay her off and he'll then pay me back. Time to plan what I have to spend this month from Pay Day.DEBT TOTAL: £7609.440

His landlady decided she'd sit down and be reasonable and listen to him rather than just demand his money. I'm working on a spreadsheet of how much I can pay off each month to work out when I can reduce my debts quickerDEBT TOTAL: £7609.440
