I have been buying wool from the Amazon site. Marriner wool is being sold for £1 for 100 gm ball. I bought 45 balls and the postage and packing was only £2.95. A bargain I think. Hope this is useful.

If you buy direct from the Marriner site P&P is FREE on orders over £25

And yet another vote for Kemps!
I have also used https://www.texere-yarns.co.uk and their mill is on my list of places to visit this year.

Do try to visit it! It is a fantastic place, a true treasure trove. And the staff are super friendly! They run an event between Christmas and New Year, a very special day, worth timing the visit for that day, with special offers and refreshment. Check their website for details nearer the time. Really lovely!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Recently bought from a new online shop. Really impressed with the fast delivery and low prices. The website is easy to use. I would check out their best sellers page as it is regularly updated and shows popular yarns to choose from if you are a new knitter and not sure which yarns are good quality.

Search for The Wool Shop Ludlow

Just to say that our local charity shops have a lot of donated yarn. Although some is 'odds and ends' that one might use for a beginner's or small craft project, some is 'end of line' donated by manufacturers and there is plenty of some lines for making, say a garment. Definitely worth a look.
