The muggers/car jackers have a shock if this was the same car that had the ropes/chains/gag/big knife in the boot that was being used on shoppers who come to the assistance of the driver ;)

Another false alert here otherwise known as an urban myth. This one has been around a couple of years................

    Read this.

I suggest you tell that to the member of staff at a local hospital who this happened to last week. I am sure they would love to know 3 cracked ribs and stitches was just an urban myth. :(

Did you know the person? This is how urban myths work. It always happens to a friend of a friend, but nobody ever knows the actual person it happened to.

Yes, and it is not the first time they have had this happen to them either, the Car Park is not well lit and typically no security camera was trained on that spot at the time.

Recently a neighbour was out shopping at a large Asda, and was loading her Car when she was shoved head first into the Boot and her Bag stolen.

I myself had a narrow escape in Harlesden before Xmas, when sat at the Traffic Lights, a Lad came running up towards my side of the Car, with something in his hand, but luckily the lights changed in time.

These so callled Urban Myths are not all myth, in Wood Green there has been a number of people attacked, after being advised they had paint on their coats.

It is getting dodgy out there.....

Maybe the muggers around your way are reading these urban myths and thinking 'what a good idea'?

  • I suggested removing the rear screen from all cars to solve this problem.

    :rotfl:

I suggest banning all cars from car parks to solve the problem.
A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.

Well unless you drive a Tank and are prepared to crush a few cars in front of you or mow down the pedestrians, I don't see what else you can really do.

Wasn't 'Armageddon: The Musical' by any chance??? (My favourite book).

Great book..in fact I love them all except possibly the hollow chocolate bunnies one.

I dislike urban myths..even when they make a film based on some of the more 'popular' ones people claim that it just happened to a friend of a friend (who is usually a medic or a police office to add weight to the claim) just last week. In fact I've found proportionally I get more urban myth emails, and fake virus warnings from people using Government or local authority email addresses, which I always think is a worry.

The reason I dislike these myths so much is that they are designed to cause concern and panic and whilst most of us on here automatically turn to snopes some people can get very worried. My dear MIL (bless her) was once told by a police man neighbour a story about burglars pretending to be BT engineers and sitting at those green BT junction boxes listening on the telephone (??) to see if a house was empty. This story was told because there was a BT engineer that day doing that at the end of the road. My MIL stayed in for a whole day absolutely terrified and frightened even to pick up the phone to call me in case the burglar overheard her and broke in. The neighbour thought my MIL would understand it was nothing more than a nasty story, he hadn't considered for one moment that she would believe it.
