another spend of £40 today as needed to get bits for lunches this week(if its in the house they'll eat it so better to buy as needed rather than try and stock up in advance but the extra shops mean I spend more
so gonna have to work out a way round that lol) though that did include some more of the 1/2 price/bogof soap powder and 2 for £1 fairy for the store cupboard stocks so not sure wether to include those or not???
still got a couple of bits to get later in the week but hoping to keep spends below £15 we'll see should be able to get whats needed for that just depends on if I can stick to the list and not give in to the extras that usually seem to find they're way into the basket
debating about wether to try the one big shop a month then just top up locally on fresh but not sure if I'll end up spending more in the long run as the local shops arent exactly the cheapest??this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
Hello everyone
Reading other peoples' budgets is rather alarming! I completely overspend on my shopping. Admittedly, I really have no idea what I spend but I would estimate in the region of £400-£500 per month for 2 adults and a cat!! I have 5 dogs also but don't include their food as this is delivered separately.
SO - I am throwing myself into the grocery challenge and would like to be put down for:
£300 for September for 2 adults and a cat to include food and toiletries
I have just bought a large freezer and am in the process of stocking up on soups and stews. This is really where I think I can make the biggest savings - batch cooking and freezing. So, I think I need to check out other threads too for recipe ideas etc. Ideally, I would like to get down to £200 per month but want to be realistic too2011 Wins - Dave Gorman Tickets :j Sony Bravia TV :beer:0 -

I have just rememberd that I also bought a small gas bbq From MrT on Saturday and school bag and stationery for my daughter. Perhaps I should remove these from my groceries list and drop the target to £230.00 for the month of August afterall this is a groceries challenge.Return and Restart August 2016

Well as I managed to stay under budget for the first time ever last month, I decided to chop an extra £25 off this months just to see!! Ideally I would love a budget of around £350 per month but that seems a very far off goal currently...
Anyways, in an attempt to use up all left overs, I am going to attempt bread and butter pudding to use up some bread that's on it's way out. I usually pop it in the freezer for when I do breaded turkey steaks but have loads in there already. I am trying out the recipe in the index at the top of the thread so will let you all know how I get on.
Wish me luck !!0 -
NSD for me today
Am about to start the lasagne for tonight and tomorrow nights tea and am going to make a apple and honey tart for afters with the last of the cookers from MIL's tree (the others are already frozed and bagged ready for winter)
The tart should last us until at least thursday and OH loves it so sees it as a proper treat which should help with the smaller portion sizes for main meal
Puzzled0 -
NSD today woohoo :j I know I'll have to pop into a shop towards the end of the week for some salad stuff, but that's it0
