    Hi all

NSD today - Toad in Hole for dinner, then need sleep asap - flipping cat keeping us up singing to herself in mirror - she has truely gone bonkers:D Can,t keep her out of the bedroom at the moment as doing some (more) building work, and if we could she just sits outside the door and makes sounds like she,s being murdered:cool: love her x

Have a good evening all xx
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
  • NSD today :j and I've come home with a tub of potato salad, half a tub of coleslaw and a tub of posh custard that wasn't eaten by the staff at lunch today. (being left to do the catering does have benefits sometimes)
Dinner tonight is lasagne made with the second half of the bolognese sauce I made on Saturday.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

Kids dinner sorted all from leftover/freezer. Ours will use up last of roast chicken, some mushrooms from depths of the the fridge and creme fraiche which needs using asap - pasta + creamy chicken, mushroom + tom sauce!

Bread and butter pudding is soaking itself up ready for going in the oven with our garlic bread later.

DH came home with one carrier bag full of runner beans and one carrier bag full of plums. Need to work these into the mealplan / freeze tonight.
What's the best way to freezer runner beans, can I just chop and freeze them or will they get freezer burn? I haven't ever blanched veg before!

Update from over the weekend...spent £4.50 on wine, £7.50 on fairly rubbish pastries/sausge rolls for lunch :(, 6.96 in Sainsburritos one day and 28.72 the next. Have meals planned for rest of the week and only need some pots and a banana or two plus possibly milk. I've got £2.32 to last until we go on holiday on Sunday so we'll see. Hopeful I'll come close!

hi, what i do is cut down each side to remove the 'string' then slice into strips and blanch for two mins, then refresh in cold cold running water until cold then bag and freeze. Another friend of mine has a rule she doesn't destring if she can snap the pod in half without the string showing itself

  • Spent £9.07 at Ts today for ingredients for my spag bol and cottage pie this week. Was going to have spag bol tonight but OH has gone to the cinema and I'm not overly hungry so going to have egg and toast tonight which means I can have spag bol tomorrow instead. That's 1 less dinner I have to buy/prepare this week!

Oh dear, due to an unexpected spend I think I will have to adjust our target down to £250 this month please helenjelly :( £42 spent in MrT today on a fridge topup, some shampoo & shower gel, the bogof surf small & mighty 54 wash bottles which will last ages, the 2 for £1 fairy platinum washing up liquid and the 2 for £3 softener as we had run out completely. Got some bread flour and will be teaching little sister (15) to make proper bread this week.

That leaves ~£75 for the rest of the month, which equates to 2 topups really or one big decent shop. Will have to be very careful! I hope this is doable. I think I'll aim for a £50 shop in a week and a halfs time and the rest left for milk, bread etc. Eek! Luckily we're well stocked up.
