Like you we moved to an area they did not supply. I think we paid about £30 cancellation. This was just last year. I also had a good experience with Sky when it was them I was with and moved into a conservation area where you couldn't have a dish on the house.
How did you resolve that issue?0 -
Do NOT take their Virgin ADSL package as a get out unless you cannot avoid it. I'd advise paying the cancellation fee instead if it's less than £50. Virgin ADSL is abysmal, overly-throttled at peak times and completely oversubscribed, just look at all the complaints in their forums. I made the same mistake and lived to regret it. As others have stated, you will also end up inadvertently taking out a new 12 month contract.
I certainly wasn't recommending Virgin National except as a way of mitigating a huge ETC otherwise-the OP is only 6 weeks into a 12m contract for VM 50MB broadband, so the bill will I fear be several hundred. I believe that the ETC is £20pm for the XXL 50 meg service, so that's about £200 for that alone, plus any line rental and TV charges in addition.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Anyone thinking of taking Virgin ADSL just take a look at all the complaints on their forum.

I left them 18 months ago after managing to get out of my contract early (along with a few other customers on the forum at the time) due to extremely poor performance. I can't believe the same problems are still on going to this day. To be honest, I think I'd rather pay a £200 cancellation fee than to go through all that again. They can't charge you for cancelling the TV if the service is not available in the new house.0 -

Have you seen the amount of complaints about Sky and BT but still people use them?
BTW they CAN charge you for ending your TV contract early. You make an agreement in law and you have to stick to it. I know, it happened to me.0 -

Sorry, but wrong.
Contract = obligation
Breaking contract = obligation
There will be fees to be paid...in most cases providers don't make money on a 12 month contract for around 4 months...and you think 6 weeks in the OP will get let off?
Miracle if it happens...0
