What to do? Go back to the shop and get your refund obviously. I don't think this is rocket science.

the account has been set up in another name so we cant issue the refund..

ie the person who i was buying the phone for is the only person who can authorise the refund to my card..

Who were you or P4U ringing with this 10p ?
Why couldn't P4U use their phone for this 10p ?
Why didn't you go to o2 in the first place because if you had you would have got the £20 upgrade and not had to top the new phone up.

You didn't answer my original question of why you bought the phone twice, once for £80 and again for £100, when you also stated that you couldn't afford a £10 top-up.

Anyway, you want to charge P4U for your time - where do the figures of £50, £45 & £42.50 come from? It looks like you've plucked them out of thin air. You can't just make up random figures and expect P4U to pay you, and anyway I honestly don't believe you're within your rights to charge them for your time in this instance.

Go back to the shop (if necessary with the person who you bought the phone for) and politely ask them the easiest/quickest way of getting your money back.

BTW, as I said before your posts are long and rambling - if you kept to the basic facts (and also used capital letters) it would make them much easier for people to read. We do actually want to help, but if we can't understand what you're saying, then nobody wins.

    4. they take the details of the person who the phone is for

    5. they take payment for the phone (in my case a debit card)

    6. they then ring some number and confirm the sale.

    7. the customer receives the phone and the receipt..

before point 4 i was told that i needed 10p to make the call to complete the deal.

by point 6 it was apparent that 11p was not enough to make the call.

i was told i had to top up
Ok, all sounds complicated, but fair enough. I guess you're doing something out of the usual by buying something for someone else but using their customer loyalty without them being there.

But I still don't understand about the phone call that had to be made.
    Who had to phone who?
    Why?
    From whose phone? Why?
Does it make sense to you, OP?
Did the salesman know what network and tarriff you were on? If not, how would he know it would only cost you 10p? Why did you have to top up rather than use a different phone?
meanwhile the manager was literally telling him to 'stop it' ALEX, STOP IT NOW!' and he would not shut up..
In which case I would phone the store and ask to speak to the manager. Find out when "Alex" isn't going to be in and go and speak tot he manager then.
i believe i am well in my rights to charge them for my time to get it back

    am i?
If they are in the wrong (given that you decided to walk out of the store they may argue that they're not) then they should be paying any out of pocket expenses. Keep receipts for car parks, bus fares, etc. If they feel particularly bad about what they've done (again they might not) and want to keep you as a future customer (ditto) they may make a goodwill gesture for your trouble. Unless I could prove costs for more than this, I personally would be hoping for a total of £5 cash or a £10 voucher.

I still do not understand the 10p business but do not want to get into an argument about it.

I don't understand how you managed to upgrade someone's phone but never mind that either.

If you want this dealt with - take the person in whose name this phone is with you to the first shop or the second shop.

Deal with the simple things first -returning and getting back whatever costs you have been charged - forget the business about "your time". Something has gone wrong between you and the sales person - which I cannot understand.

the 10p was what the saleman said i had to have to make a call to get the code to finish the transaction.. this was after taking my money..

it was a PAYG phone and some silly deal with P$U whereby if you were on a network on PAYG for 6 months plus then you were entitled to the upgrade which consists of 20 quid off the price and no necessity to top up.

i have already explained how i spent 5 hours of my day on foot and an hour and a half on the phone asking them to refund my card.. they refused..

the thing that has gone wrong with me and the salesperson is that he lied to me and when i refused to top up became very nasty until i had to leave the store before my inner beast was unleashed.

ermmmm... i went back and forward between my bank and 2 different stores and got the same response.. for 5 hours..

try reading before responding and you might see there us a little more to the story than your comment..

i came here for help not for spiteful comments on my intellect.

I have no idea why you couldn't just top up the £10. You spent £79.95 another £10 to make calls with is hardly anything.

aye £10 its nothing is it..

you probably dont have a PAYG.. £10 = 20 mins of calls.. bargain considering my mate pays about 20 quid a month for 1000 miins unlimited texts, free internet, picture messaging and a free phone every year..

its an exclusive P4U deal on all networks..

you have to use the phone which has alreaady been on said network for 6 months or more..

    o2 dont have the deal..

    i only bought one phone..

p4u refused to give me my money back (computer says no) and never gave e the phone because i did not ring this number for the code.

as i said im not charging them for my time it is for the rental of the 79.95..

it got so silly i had to tell them they can happily keep my 79.95 for the charge of 50 a day.. they refused so i dropped it to 45 then to 42.50 but no lower!

its all recorded.. and very silly i know.. i thought they would just give me my money back but they still refused..

the fact that its gonna take 3 weeks to send a cheque and a similar amount of time to arrange a bank transfer (they want an enhanced CRB check before theyll even consider it.

not unusual.. i was using my card.. the person was standing next to me.. he is also my witness to the whole saga..
But I still don't understand about the phone call that had to be made.
that is some sort of closely guarded secret.. noone really knows.. it did start 030 so its in london somewhere, apparently
    Who had to phone who?
    Why?
the P4U rep had to phone UNKNOWN to get the code to release the phone to the customer
    From whose phone? Why?
from my mates phone, to prove you had the phone i suppose and not just using random numbers, buying loads of phones and making no profit selling them.. 20 quid was the biggest discount btw, most were like 5-10 quid.. the value of which would have dropped twice as much when you left the store..
Does it make sense to you, OP?
not at all.. i am at the end of my tether trying to sush it and the only conclusion i can come up with is sheer greed..
Did the salesman know what network and tarriff you were on? If not, how would he know it would only cost you 10p? Why did you have to top up rather than use a different phone?
the salesman knew what network i was on.. i assumed, working in a mobile phone shop he would know the cost.. you have to use the phone with the number given to confirm..

In which case I would phone the store and ask to speak to the manager. Find out when "Alex" isn't going to be in and go and speak tot he manager then.
as i have already stated i tried this.. i spoke with two managers, 2 customer service staff and head office, all of whom were constantly trying to make me take the blame for nothing..

If they are in the wrong (given that you decided to walk out of the store they may argue that they're not) then they should be paying any out of pocket expenses. i had to walk out of the store because i was being bullyed.. fight or flight situation.. i flew..

what would you have done fought?
