Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 31st August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

morning!
I'm an early bird today. Had my shower and just having a slice of toast before I go to work. Woke up with a thumping headache but hopefully a couple of paracetamol will do the trick.
NPM - hope you're feeling better today - and Noah too x x
Managed to get the veg prepared for the freezer yesterday before work but not the apples although they will keep a bit so not such a hurry.
House is not too bad - just floors that need a sweep really.
Dinner will be something easy as I'm out this evening.
Have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -

Off to make 2nd cup of coffee in a minute.
Easy dinner tonight - Tinned Pie (OH,s purchase months ago) and mash
Hope all those having not so good times are feeling better today x

Morning all.
A day off work today and I want to get the "patio" (aka grotty patch of concrete) cleared up so I will probably have several visits to the local amenity to do. I'd like to be able to have some gro-bags and/or pots out there next year.
Other than that, I have the gas man coming to repair my cooker (the warranty runs out mid-September so only just squeaked in there!) so must get up and going as I'm still in my jamas
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Good Morning x
Hugs to those who are struggling at the moment.
Jackie G - hope your DS is feeling more positive this morning. Changing school is such a huge transition.
Many thanks for your support yesterday as regards my hospital appointments. I managed to tick three things off my medical list so that is all good:T:T:T
I dont know why but feeling quite low this morning so will have to shake myself up and get going. I have to go to get school shoes for Ds2 so that will entail a trip to MK:eek::eek::eek:
Right onwards and upwards my friends xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all!!! Weather forecast says it will be sunny today - clearly they aren't in my part of Yorkshire! But the washing is out none the less, 2nd load in and 3rd and 4th loads waiting - I like to dry on the line if I can - fresher and free! Estate agent coming to value the house this afternoon, so have to spruce up the sitting room - the rest of the house was done yesterday and over the weekend. Need to take some things to the tip tomorrow (not open today - cost cutting!) and prepare myself for my neighbours boy to be here most of the day. Will be interesting to see what estate agent says. Am ready for the boys to start back at school next week and will be nice to get back into the normal routine.
Need to have this coffee and then get dressed and motivated! Love to Lou and NPM xxxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -

Morning everyone,
It is so autumnal here, the council were out sweeping loads of leaves off the road yesterday.
Had a nice meal out with my friends last night AND it was cheap so that was a bonus.:D
Going to see a friends new baby this morning. I have baked a plum and cinnamon cake to take with me as I know that my friend loves cake!
Tea tonight will probably be chilli.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Hugs to all that need them especially Lou and NPM0 -
Morning,
Hope I find you all well today. NPM hope you and Noah are feeling a bit brighter.
Work today, but I am all orgainsed already. My back is killing me, I think its the god awful chairs in there, I am going to speak to my manager about an assessment today.
Went to the parent council meeting at the high school last night. There was about a dozen new parents there, which is impressive! But one of the other new parents was awful, very critical of everything they have done, and all, 'we did this, ' I was quite embarrassed for her, and felt quite sorry.for the head.and chairperson who were trying their best to be diplomatic, but she was very aggressive, not assertive in a positive way at all, and the chair particularly looked very uncomfortable, and was really defrnsive. I am quite keen to get involved, but she looks like she may need 'careful management'.
Candy, is that baby out yet?
Got to go, long day ahead. Bil is too ill for his chemo this week
Have a.great day,

Morning All,
haven't been posting much but do try to read whenever possible.
Peace reigns at the moment as they are all in bed so thought I would grab a quiet moment to myself and catch up with you all.
Hugs Lou/ NPM sounds like you have been having a tough time
I need to finish off the last few bits for DS3 who doesn't go back to school until Tuesday. Still need PE shorts, a couple of white shirts and a bag and some stationery.
My DD is still with us. It looks like things are definitely over between her and her ex, so at the moment DGS is spending four days with mum and 3 days with dad. He has adapted surprisingly well but I think its easier when they are little. My DD is hoping to have enough saved to be in her own place by the end of October. She also has an interview on Friday for a better job so keep your fingers crossed.
My DS1 and his GF are also with us until mid September when they go back to Oz and get saving for their wedding Dec 2012.
So 8 big people currently in residence chez Julie and you would not believe how much food they are going through:eek: much as I love having them all, it will be quite nice to get back to just the 4 of us in October.
Trying to keep on top of the housework but its not easy, everyone is pitching in but I suspect I will in a tip until they have all gone.
Anyway I'm waffling! that'ss because I am being deprived of my daily post.
Hope everyone has a great day. J XStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Just making the effort to pop in and say "Hi" rather than lurk! Hope everyone who was fed up yesterday is feeling a bit better.....
I've actually been given work by The Witch - it's a miracle LOL! :j Apart from that sat here in my dressing gown as don't feel much like getting dressed....shocking.....and watching the little birdies on the yew tree outside the office. It's starting to berry now so we've got Mr and Mrs Thrush taking turns to "guard" their food supply.....and speaking of food tonight's dinner will be sausage and mash with green beans, carrots and celery....mmmmm braised celery......:D
Islandmaid - we actually quite like tinned pie and it's an easy meal. Have you stocked up whilst they've been for £1 at Asda? We've gone a bit mad on them...:oBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0
