*Look* if you are a Plusnet, zone 2 customer

I was playing with my account at Plusnet at the weekend and found that if I change to the Extra package of 60Gb it would cost me £11.49 per month. I thought I was missing something as at present I pay £12.99 for 10Gb (Value package). So I called Plusnet and the operator explained that I was in a zone 2 area meaning that I would normally pay the higher price but recently Ofcom had been in touch and Plusnet could no longer discriminate between a zone 1 and 2 areas. I asked why I hadn’t received a refund or a letter indicating this but he replied that Plusnet only expected the reduction to be in force for 3 weeks before returning to normal price and they would only reduce payments as customers noticed the difference and called! This needs to be looked in to but I opted to save £1.50 a month and gain an extra 50Gb. Lets see how long it last.

    Not exactly correct, it's got nothing to do with Ofcom. We changed the prices in Market 2 areas as a trial and therefore it's unlikely to stay permanent. However if you have moved onto the lower pricing we won't move you back to the higher one unless you switch back to a different product.

    Did it myself yesterday (totally unrelated to this thread) - told it was "a one to one offer" (ie if you don't ask you don't get) and had been running for a week; the new price was for applicable "indefinitely" - checked my product change link on portal.plus.net ten minutes later and the new price was already there - also told "no new contract, same DL allowance (60gb), effective from next billing date" so I cut my Extra package from 17.99 to 11.49 (36%) :D GET IN THERE NOW!

  • Plusnet emailed me a few months ago to tell me my area had changed zone, and I now qualified for lower monthly fees. I changed from the Plusnet Value package to their 60GB one, and it's costing me less!

    Found this thread after I've called plusnet to request lowering my price from £17.99 to £11.49.

    A ticket has been raised and is awaiting for support to action the change.

    There is no option to change from Extra £17.99 to Extra £11.49 from the member section, so had to call them.

    If its still outstanding before my next bill date then I'll use the product changer option to drop the package to £6.49 instead.

    Any chance you could advise of a ticket ID please, so I can check that's been applied properly? It could be the way the ticket reply has been phrased rather than anything else, but I'd just like to check to make sure everything's right for you. As we said above, we won't move you back to the old price - you'd need to request a move back to an older product in order for that to happen, and we'll not change your product without being asked.

    I've had a look and everything on the account is fine, the new price is the new price indefinitely (at least, until you choose to change to a different account should you wish). The statement regarding twelve months is just how the agent phrased the answer to your ticket.

    I'll have a word and explain what's happened, but I can assure you the price won't jump back up at the end of twelve months. Sorry about the confusion caused there.
