Savings Account Identification problems

I recently opened a Netsaver account with the Derbyshire BS and if they cannot ID you electronically their paper ID requirements are less stringent than some.
They will accept a current account statement for name ID and something like a council tax statement for address ID, both of which are easy to provide.

This shouldn't be a problem, strangely enough just returned the annual form from the Council for the Voter's Roll, it always arrives with my Name pre-printed on the Form so I don't even need to put my name down as the inhabitant, just sign & return. I wouldn't use a middle name for formal correspondence... plus the fact that I don't have one.If the electronic ID is failing with both Santander and Coventry I would suspect that could be down to either you not being on the voter's roll, or a problem with the way your name is linked to your address.
We get this regularly, for example, where someone has given their house a name, however it is still registered with Royal Mail as just a house number - always fails EID. Another one is where people provide their middle name as first name etc.
ChiefGrasscutter: Commiserations, your personal circumstances sound very similar to mine.
Sparky47: Thanks too for that link, I think I dismissed that account earlier because of the "opening deposit by cheque" requirement, but as Sceptic001 has suggested ING may also need the same then I'll chase my Bank for a new cheque book which shouldn't be a problem...........unless of course they ask for ID before they can send out a new book .....DOH!
